former prince george's county executive jack johnson is now facing. the fbi first arrested johnson and his wife in november. today a federal grand jury indicted him on eight counts. prosecutors say johnson was involved in a pay for play scheme he used to enrich himself. they say other indictments could soon follow. >> this investigation is active and ongoing. we anticipate that there will be additional defendants and additional charges in the coming weeks and months. >> johnson did not talk about the indictment today but his lawyer billy martin did. martin says the indictment mischaracterizes johnson's tenure as county executive and his client will continue to fight the allegations and is looking forward to his day in court so he can set the record straight. >>> take a live look outside and if you're headed out, you know this. hold onto your hats. you can see the camera bouncing around, the wind still howling through our region tonight. it's been gusty throughout the day, some up to 50 miles an hour in places. not just the wind, it's been a huge temperature drop as well. fox 5's su

name is craig baxam, 24 years old, a product of prince george's county, accused by federal prosecutors of trying to join a somalian based terrorist organization called al-shabaab. baxam was arrested by police in kenya two weeks ago and brought back to the u.s. friday. he was a member of the largo high school class of 2005. dwayne jones was his principal. >> what i can remember is that he was a pretty good student and i wish i could tell you more and hopefully this situation he's in is just an allegation and it's not true of. reporter: according to prosecutors, baxam joined the army in 2007, was deployed to iraq, reenlisted after he came home, was sent to korea and while there left the army last summer. prosecutors say baxam converted toes i happen shortly before leaving the mill -- to islam shortly before leaving the military and decided to move to africa, specifically somalia, to become a terrorist. this is baxam's mother, herself a lawyer, leaving the federal courthouse in greenbelt this afternoon, clearly not thrilled to be a part of this story. baxam's lawyer also not interested in

start with mass violence across prince george's county and the district this weekend. 10 shootings, four people dead in 72 hours. the latest shooting happened this morning. tonight police in d.c. and maryland are scrambling to find suspects and restore the peace. fox 5's john henrehan starts us off tonight. >> reporter: police got the call at 8:19 sunday morning in the forestville section of prince george's county. gunshots were reported in a house at the corner of judith avenue and marion street. two adult men were shot, one declared dead at a local hospital, the other width a wound in the leg according to a neighbor. >> right now we're investigating some sort of altercation that happened in the house. there were multiple people in the home. we're just trying to piece everything together to find out what was going on. >> reporter: two different neighbors told us police have been called to this house numerous times over the years, sometimes to settle fights. one neighbor who called the structure a party house said it was just a matter of time before someone got killed there. this w

george's county police say an off-duty d.c. cop fired at to men when tre tried to take his car. it happened just before 6:30 this morning on brooks drive in capitol heights. police claim the officer was parking when the suspects approached, pulled out a gun and demanded his keys. that's when the officer drew his police-issued gun. police say one of the men fired at the officer as they took off and he shot back. the officer wasn't hit, but he believes he may have hit one of the men. both suspects managed to get away. >>> a northeast woman devastated tonight after two pit bulls attacked and killed her dog. she was walking her schnauzer poodle mix named raven about 10:15 friday night when the dogs attacked raven. it happened near houston elementary school. jones tried to save her dog but there just wasn't much he could do. >> i tried to hold her to me but she was trying to pull away. i just let her go and told her to run fas but -- [ indiscernible ] they just pulled her and choked her like a rag doll. >> reporter: jones tells fox 5 she doesn't know who the pits belong to one was later
