southern prince george's county now where firefighters have been on the run all day long. right now, the fear of a hot spot that could reignite is a big concern. in fact, out-of-state firefighters are on hand helping, too. matt akland has more from outside of clinton, maryland. >> reporter: firefighters on this part of the county, the southern part of prince george's county closed through the clip ton area have been very busy throughout the day. about 20 structures have caught on fire. this wind is really causing a huge problem. to give you an example, it's hard to see behind me but it was burning earlier today and sparks from that fire actually blew across this major road over to that house and caught the rear of that home on fire. it's been impossible to control. the wind has been the fire's best friend today and the worst enemy for the residents who live in this community. many of them evacuated. >> it is very scary. >> reporter: gina ball watches the flames and smoke get just too close to her home. across the field, firefighters use a bull doze en to build a -- a bulldozer to bu

in prince george's county today starting after 1:00 today when an officer tried to pull someone over. police say the driver tried to outrun the officer, got stopped at a barricade, and reversed the car into the police cruiser before taking off again. eventually the driver and passengers got out and ran. one person was arrested, but all the others are still on the run. >>> it's been several weeks since harry thomas junior resigned from d.c. council and pleaded get to embezzling from the district. the funds meant for youth sports programs. leaders from the organization where thomas was able to steal most of the money will be in front of a committee tomorrow, trying to figure out how thomas did it without anyone finding out. >> the chairman of this committee says he has many questions to ask when it comes to how thomas was able to rob about $350,000 and he wants to know if new procedures in place will insure this doesn't happen again. federal officials say thomas was able to use his influence as a council member to funnel the money into his own pocket. tomorrow officials from cyitc will

metro riders in prince george's county are wonder if they will be stranded. the transit agency is considering shoulding down three stations on the weekend. the move would save the company money, but the riders would hit more than their wallets. >> reporter: at the cherylerly station, these don't get a lot of use on the weekends. fewer than 600 use them on sundays. >> i hope they don't start closing everything down. >> reporter: that's exactly what might happen at the station. three of them could be shut down on saturdays and sunday. the projected deficit for next year in metro is $189 million. and the fiscal year begins july 1st. all kinds of service cuts and fare hikes are on the table but the possility of completely closing stations on weekends has stunned the riders we encountered. >> i use it constantly and for them to stop the service is not fair for everyone. >> you know, i can't afford no taxi. some taxis won't take you through the dc line. >> reporter: residents living near the cheverly station would be pleased if the service was kept. fewer trains at night and ending the

christmas light display at watkins regional park in prince george's county. it begins friday and run every night from 5:00 until 9:30, light displays at the park's 25th annual winter festival lights and santa will be flying over with a helicopter and driving a fire truck. so $5 to get in and see the light displays and buses pay 25. the show will continue right through the beginning of january. if you're in the season and the feeling now for the season, this is a great way. after your christmas shopping all weekend, this is the way to get into it. in the meantime we've got sunshine and we don't have any snow to talk about, another sunny day ahead in my forecast for you. a cold front is headed our way, our next weathermaker, temperatures up and down across the board and some unsettled weather that will come in the days ahead. in the meantime today we were nowhere near temperatures for christmas, 63 degrees at national airport, 66 at dulles and look at this, a balmy 70 degrees at baltimore airport which is some 17 degrees warmer than the seasonal average for the day. that was a real tre
