that touched down... investigative reporter, george knapp of the iteam. we've all been following what's happening in flint michigan. with the crisis, the lead in the water. seems to be a little deja vu for researchers here in southern nevada. ((george knapp)) ya there were these scientists who discovered 5 years ago asbestos over a large swath of southern nevada land. watching this thing unfold in flint, michigan and it all sort of strikes home for them. for one thing, like asbestos, there's no such thing as a safe level. r aestos, once it's in your body, it never leaves. two, is ait takes a lgme for the harm to develop. takes a long time for yote the medical effects. third and most importantly, the government, the state officials in michigan knew it was a problem and state officials here know it's a problem and they've been thwarting any effort to find out information. these scientists have been saying from the beginning that what we need to have is solid information about how much exposure there is for the people who live in these areas. those who go atving, those who go hiking

approve this message. < brian loftus: i'm here with george knapp and we are talking about urban parks where people might like to go and do a little fishing, but not leaving it as is" george knapp: so most fisherman are pretty considerate about this thing. but i am going to tell you, the video we are going to show you right now ab out this thing is pretty disturbing. so you got kids you might want to think about it. most fishermen as i said are pretty considerate, but a lot of them at sunset park leave lines and hooks all over the place. and it is deadly for water fowl. people who walk through that park see this trail of horror pretty much on a daily basis. birds whose wings are wrapped up, whose feet are amputated. their appendages are blackened and drop off because of the fishing line. hooks that get into dogs and other animals that walk into the park. it is just a trail of tears for the folks that go through there, and here is one of them we talked to: appreciate the wild life and they and their children are subjected to an ongoing parade of birds in various stages of distress, whet

space agency./// reporter george knapp of the i- team. it wasn't too long ago metro brought back some retired homicide detectives to give a go at some cold cases. you have an update for us? george knapp: yep, they are diving right into the cold case files. and we have two they want to emphasize now. one is a 1993 murder of a lady named rosemary phoenix, very vivacious single mom. she was a dealer working at the mirage, came home from work one night, and someone had disabled her garage door opener, which is how she usually got in her house. so she parks her car, goes in the front door, and there was somebody lurking inside right behind the door. it was a horrible murder. i've seen the crime scene photos and had never been released. but police believe it was very personal, it might be someone she knew. they have eliminated most of the some dna evidence, they just need a little bit more to push them over the edge. we spoke to rosemary's daughter melody, first interview she has ever given, and she is appealing to the public for some help with this case. melody phoenix: no such thing as ti
