breaking news from prince georges county. that's where a maryland state trooper was shot this morning. it happened at forest village park mall and it sparked an area-wide search for the suspect. 9 news now reporter kristin fisher is following developments from the scene in forestville. kristin? >> good morning, andrea. well, right now the search is on for this gunman who shot this maryland state trooper this morning. it happened around 12:40 this morning right outside of this applebees. you can see it right over here, it is the applebees on darnell drive and pennsylvania avenue. all we know at this point in time is that this trooper had been with the force for 3 1/2 years and he was providing security at that applebees when the shooting took place outside in the parking lot. now we don't know what led up to the shooting or how many shots were fired. all we know is the trooper was shot and take on the the prince georges county hospital center in hyattsville. at this point in time, we do not know his condition. all we know is he has been taken to the hospital. as for the gunman, he's on

montgomery village avenue. >>> prince george's county rescuers have spent the night searching for a person missing after a roof collapse. >> 9news reporter delia is live at the scene with details. >> reporter: good morning, it has been a long and slow and deliberate process for the rescue crews on the scene. they have been here throughout the night, searching for that missing employee. it is unclear at this point if that employee is safe at home, or trapped inside the building, but all accounts, they are searching vigorously for this person who could still be inside. around 10:00 we are told crews were called to this paper storage facility warehouse here in prince george's county for a roof collapse and the wall, we are told, was bowed about 5 degrees. 25 workers, we are told, were inside at the time. they evacuated safely, however this one last worker remains unaccounted for. they are also told there were large stacks of documents where they stored all these papers inside the warehouse and many of the stacks tumbled when the roof came down last night. we don't know an exact cause. we are

dollar casino here that officials say would draw $69 million for prince george's county, alone. much more money for the whole state of maryland. lawmakers struck a deal to expand gambling for prince george's county and will discuss the issue that is if itself governor agrees to call a special session. governor martin o'malley gave no clear indication though about his decision on a special session saying lawmakers need to do the right thing for the future of the state, but also said, you know, they had 90 days to balance the state's $35 billion budget. >> for prince george's county, $69 million. there is nothing that will give us that type of revenue. i would have to raise, if i could, raise property taxes 10% in order to meet the type of revenues that we'll get from the casino bill. >> reporter: that's rushern baker, the county executive who at the last minute started supporting this proposal saying it would draw a lot of money into the county, money that he can find in no other avenue. there are those severe consequences if the general assembly does not go into a special session. th

morning. >> prince george's county firefighters rushed to the hil- mar drive in district heights around 2:00 a.m. 9news now reporter delia goncalves joins us from close to the scene. she's on the phone with us. what do we know so far? >> reporter: well, some good news to report initially. the two and a half-year-old, a 27-month-old girl who fishily was rescued -- initially was rescued out of a window by firefighters without a pulse, they were performing cpr on the girl. i just learned from the chief of prince george's county fire her pulse has been restored. that little girl, though, still touch and go. she is in critical condition at children's hospital at this very hour. it was a dramatic scene this morning. the fire broke out at 2:00 a.m. in a very wooded area here in hil-mar drive. we're talking about a town house that is two stories on an end unit. firefighters attacked the fire vigorously so it did not spread to the nearby unit. however, we are told that there were three adults in the house at the time, two children. one adult, a male in a wheelchair was in the basement lev

georges counties. but there is a chance those restrictions in place since last thursday could be lifted later today. 9 news now reporter kristin fisher is live at the water main reparasite in potomac, maryland with the latest. good morning, kristin. >> good morning. good news. the repair work on this massive water main is all done. the pipe was successfully replaced. so why are the water restrictions still in place? well, wssc says sit for your own good. the water company is still testing water samples to make sure the water is safe to drink. after five days of around the clock repairs, wssc crews have finally fixed the failing 50- year-old water main. now the focus is on flushing out the pipe to clear the debris that's been building up during the repairs. crews are also checking for bacterial contamination. here's what wssc spokeswoman said yesterday about the ongoing water tests. >> water tests take 18 hours to incubate, if you will, they are at the lab in silver spring. and we will have the results sometime tomorrow and after we get those results we will make a determination on the w

georges county maryland. and vre has cancelled all of the fredericksburg trains because of a csx freight train derailment on the tracks vre uses. this time the hardest part of the area is in alexandria where city officials have declared an emergency this morning. 9 news now reporter kristin fisher is live from the del rey community with a live look at the problems they are experiencing. good morning, kristin. >> reporter: good morning, andrea. as power crews work to restore power to all of the people without power this morning, especially here in the del rey area, the city of alexandria says they are focusing on removing all of the storm debris from the roadway, so that people can make their way to work. and there's a ton of storm debris in this del rey neighborhood. take a look at this right here. this is just one example along commonwealth avenue and it is a sizable branch. if you got a few people out here they could pick it up and move it around but one person will have a difficult time moving this. certainly i'm not going to be able to. if you look across the street you can s

the time saver traffic for you. >>> a heads up for folks who commute through prince george's county. just reporting a crash, prince george's county fire and police responding kenilworth avenue near 410 east west highway. as far as the beltway is concerned through maryland and i-270, look at pace at 109. still pretty good from frederick county into hyattstown, germantown. you meetinged those showers in just locations just enough to make the pavement wet. overnight road work out of the way 066. the beltway at 66. right now the trip is pretty good heading inside the beltway, too, through falls church, ballston heading on in toward the roosevelt bridge. outer loop leaving springfield into alexandria, they finished the weekend project. on the outer loop closer to van dorn street, just after van dorn is where you'll make the local through lane choice. stick with the through lanes unless you need the local exits. the local lanes are now just single file through that phase of the project. >>> this week the supreme court is expected to hand down a highly anticipated ruling on president obama

three people. the crash happened in the 5600 block of marlboro pike in prince georges county. 9 news now reporter kristin fisher is live from the scene with the latest. a very sad start to the day. >> yeah. hey, good morning, andrea. not only is this a tragic situation, you have three adult men dead. but this is also going to be probably a real traffic inconvenience at the very least for people driving along the marlboro pike this morning and here's the reason why. look at this video. you are looking at all that is left of the prince georges county ambulance that was involved in this crash. i mean you can see it literally looks like it exploded all over the roadway. what happened is shortly after midnight the ambulance was enroute to a call. it just left the station and was traveling westbound on the marlboro pike in district heights. emergency lights were on on. sirens were sounding and somehow the driver of a suburban suv didn't see it. he was drive thing wrong side of the road and going fast when the accident happened. >> the ambulance saw it coming at the last moment, was able to swe

the unarmed 17-year-old was shot and killed by george zimmerman. the special prosecutor in the case now actually received a phone call from george zimmerman despite his defense attorney's advice that he stay quiet. zimmerman also reached out to a tv host. of course we've all seen his website where he's now asking for donations for his legal fund and basically for living expenses, a website he did himself. his latest behavior has prompted his legal team now to drop him as a client. >> we've had contact every day until this point. he's gone on his own. >> we heard today george contacted the prosecutor's office directly, one of the things every defense attorney tells his client is don't talk to the prosecutors or the cops. frankly, don't talk to anybody until we get control of the situation and do it through counsel. we were a bit astonished. >> they should be in close contact and have communication. it does bother us that they don't know where he is. >> that's trayvon martin's mother speaking on cnn in regards to what his attorneys have to say. they know he's left florida but not sure
