reach for a stun gun than firearm. now district attorney george gascon is a huge proponent for tasers. he's worked hard for them. half a dozen of san francisco police shootings could have been avoided if the officers had tasers. so he's got new information and three new members on the police commission so he's going to try again. the opponents can point to other research and other studies that back up their claims that tasers are dangerous, they do kill and don't necessarily cut down on the number of police-involved shootings so expect conflicting testimony tonight. even the practicality of tasers will come up, one commissioner questioning if the city can even afford them right now. so expect a lively discussion over the issue while officers await a decision whether they're going to be able to carry tasers. live in san francisco, amy hollyfield, abc 7 news. >> thanks, amy. a judge is expected to decide today whether the city of oakland can use a court-ordered injunction to fight a violent street gang. it would ban 40 accused gang members from gathering in the fruitdale district. a law

they're also grieving. the students and faculty here just adored this teacher 43-year-old george flap. he was okay on friday. he went to school. he had a cold but he felt okay. on sunday he had died. the health department sent a letter to all the parents to tell them about meningococcal and the possible risk of infection. parents were also given antibiotics to give the kids just in case. officials say it's not confirmed that bacterial infection killed the teacher but they're responding this way just in case. the entire situation is just shocking for the school. >> it seems like it's fate, and you can't believe it. just kind of hard to work -- his passing -- >> we're shocked. nobody anticipated this at all. he wasn't ill that you would have been worried about his health. >> flap was a popular teacher here at hoover but it is unlikely that any of his students will be infected. the bacteria is only transmitted through close prolonged contact. health officials aren't even sure that meningococcal killed flap. they're going to have to wait until the lab results to come back and that co
