choreographers that are together on stage. the show opens with george balanchine's serenade ....set to tchaikovsky's classic serenade in strings. it's one of the first ballets that he ever did for new york city ballet and its considered a master piece. he put are a standard on the dance in america. he used the dancers like they were part of the music. you visualize the music which is impressive. the program also includes the world premiere of a work by the ballet's resident choreographer, matthew neenan. i think it will be appealing to an audience that is not used to classical ballet. some passages are very intense, but at the same time he makes something a little bit lighter. the program closes with the north american premiere of liam scarlett's asphodel meadows featuring music by french composer poulenc. the music is really strong and really powerful. there are three different movements that give you a different energy. it almost takes you by ply. a program of firsts runs may 12th through the 15th at the academy of music. for tickets animals show time go to arts in philly.org or 6abc

firefighter lived in her district. george craig lewis, 36 years old, a decorated 11-year receipt van with the philadelphia fire department, one of 150 women serving in the fire department, put on the uniform each and every day and risk their lives serving our city. those 150 women, some are firefighters and some are paramedics and officers in the fire service. early this morning, at einstein medical center, i offered condolences and spend some time with joyce's family and a number of friends came to the hospital as well. she was a much loved mother, daughter, and sister, i did not know joyce personally, but i have come to know a number of things about her. she loved her job. she was a highly trained firefighter. she served in some of the busiest stations in the city on behalf of our citizens, specifically engine 9 and ladder 21, 6900 german town avenue in the german town section of our city. engine 25, west york street in philadelphia and engine 64, at rising sun in the rhawnhurst section. and she graduated from dawburn high school and earned her certificate in emt. our condolences go out

through the streets of paris to the music of george and this is totally recreated in a brand new dance and theatre celebration for the stage. the musical was nominated for 12 tony awards including best musical. it won 4, including one for best choreography. this is the first time the story has appeared live on stage combining the dance and the very well-known gershwin score. it featured jazz standards like i got rhythm and wonderful and they can't take that away from me. >> those are songs i think the fans especially of broadway will love when they hear them. it has the classics of the 20s and 0s. pennsylvania ballet choreographer christopher wheeldon choreographed and directed the show, his first foray into musical theater. it's just this amazing tap dancing, with show girls, it's quite a spectacle. it's really one of the great highlights of the show. if you love great songs and amazing dance and you love romance it's the perfect combination of a broadway show. an american in paris takes the academy of music stage november 22nd to the 27th. for tickets and showtimes go to arts in phil
