the trayvon martin canada is. for the first time, we are hearing from the father of george zimmerman. the neighborhood watch man who shot the florida teen to death last month. >> our sister station in orlando sat down with robert zimmerman. here is what he says george told him about the shooting that led to the death of trayvon martin. >> he went to the street, realized where he was and he was walking back to his vehicle. it is my understanding that, at that point, trayvon martin walked up to him, asking, do you have a [bleep] problem. george said, no, you don't have a problem and started to reach for his cell phone. at that point, he was punched in the nose. his nose was broken and he was knocked to the concrete. trayvon martin got on top of him and just started beating him in the face, in his nose, hitting his head on the concrete. after nearly a minute of being beaten, george was trying to get his head off the concrete, trying to move with trayvon on him into the grass. in doing so, his firearm was shown. trayvon martin said something to the effect of you're going to die now or yo

was rushed to prince george's hospital center and latter died. a number of officers at the hospital as well. police aren't saying where brown was shot or how many times. dozens of police including officers with state police and prince george's county are on the scene of the applebee's. this happened around 1:40 this morning in the parking lot of the restaurant. trooper brown was near the door we're told when he was shot. police say he was in plainclothes but had a jacket on that said police on it. the restaurant was still open at the time and police say it appears the gunman may have been upset with brown for removing him. >> preliminary investigation is revealing that there was a suspect inside of the establishment that was refusing to by a bill and was also acting very disorderly inside of the establishment. that was brought to the attention of the off-duty maryland state police trooper. the trooper then escorted this individual outside of the establishment. at some point, it is believed that the suspect produced a weapon and fired several rounds, striking the trooper. >> reporter

forestville. >> this is the sixth student to be killed in prince george's county this school year alone. fox 5's melanie alnwick is live outside suitland high with reaction this morning. >> reporter: good morning. there is just a feeling of shock and disbelief. some students saying they are afraid to come to school today. now, after murder of yet another student. it was about 5:30 on tuesday when prince george's county police rushed to investigate yet another shooting, this time on donell drive near pennsylvania avenue in forestville. two young men, both 18 years old, found shot in a parking lot. one said to be in grave condition. the other pronounced dead at the hospital. that one attended suitland high school. he was in the same grade as charles walker, the suitland high school freshman who was shot and killed around 4:20 monday on 28th avenue in hillcrest heights. police do believe robbery was the motive there. walker was care jig a new pair of timberland boots that friends say were a gift for his girlfriend. -- was carrying a new pair of timberland boots. >> the police have done their work

problems to report on the beltway as you travel between montgomery county and prince george's county through virginia. you are looking good that entire stretch. so a bit of volume but everybody is moving. on the beltway in prince george's county on the outer loop at route 4, we have reports of a wheelbarrow in the middle of the roadway. watch out if that. no reports of any accidents or incidents, just want to keep your eyes peeled as you head along the outer loop near route 4. traveling in montgomery county, things look pretty good here. 270 at shady grove road southbound out of frederick and getting through germantown as well. just a little bit of volume building. 95 northbound slows at the prince william parkway. and again getting up through springfield. here we are 395 northbound just north of seminary road. we've got some activity over here in the hov lanes left shoulder. we had a disabled bus on the right shoulder. you can see that is not causing much of a problem. hov lanes running well. we do have roll yum -- volume building here in the main line. >>> an army dog from norway h

just saw there in that video. prince george's county police have been chasing suspects accused in an armed carjacking. two vehicles were involved. the suspects in the honda reportedly bail the out at 31st and g streets in southeast d.c. they apparently got into a shootout with police officers. nobody was hurt. two suspects were arrested. police are still look identifying burgundy toyota avalon with maryland license plates. >>> also making headlines being homes in a virginia subdivision reduced to rubble. now, firefighters want to know what started this massive fire in manassas. as many as 16 people have been forced from their homes because of this fire. the fire broke out around 3:30 yesterday afternoon along tillot loop. one woman was taken to the hospital from just the shock of seeing her home burned to the ground. it took firefighters an hour and a half to bring that blaze under control. they believe the fire started in the middle house and then quickly spread in both directions from there. now, again, three homes were destroyed. five others were damaged. and the red cross is help
