a little bit, i know with my photographer, george, he was driving down on 880 southbound. it was raining pretty good from newark all the way down tremont, milpitas and into san jose. we do have some reports of roadway flooding near the 87 connector, there was a traffic accident there earlier. also a report of some flooding near the on ramp of lawrence expressway at 101 south. there was a truck driver that reported the water was getting high there. enough to possibly cause a traffic accident because it caused him to swerve. really be careful out there. give yourself a lot of time. as i said, here it is misting. san jose, it was raining a little bit harder down there. we're going to be monitoring the ropes and going back-and- forth and we're going to check out some of the roadway flooding. be patient and give yourself time if you're heading out this morning. >>> good advice. glad you're going to be checking in on that, janine. >>> it is 50:10. the roads are very slick. we get our first rain. >> it's terrific. >> about a half-inch of rain in san jose. more in san jose than santa cru

it in an orderly fashion. i'm just getting something from george here. let's go over here. george wants me to show you this here. let's look down the parking lot. this is the parking lot at kaiser hospital. you can see this possibly is a spot fire. it could be smoke from the spot fire there on the far end of the kaiser parking lot. a little bit hard to tell here. there certainly is fire all around this hospital as we were driving up. you can see the orange glow from this fire. an active flame, obviously, all around this particular hospital. again, we should also point out there are evacuations underway at nearby sutter santa rosa hospital as well, which is not far away. there you go. all the power just went out. just all the power just shut out. we don't know if that was done on purpose or if that was done intentionally here, because the evacuations have been completed. give you a live look here. another patient being loaded into one of these ambulances here. but all the power just went out, although it looks like some of the backup generators or a backup generator kicked in, and

somebody phoned in a bomb threat at george washington high school last month as students were taking their final exams. he told officers he was parked in a car at various places in the neighborhood and wanted to blow up the school. they evacuated the school in the -- as a precaution but nothing was found. they've been searching for that person ever since. >>> caltran says a -- a section of i-5 is likely to remain closed through friday at least after a sinkhole opened up on i- 5 just south of state road 33. there is a detour on the northbound section between highway 33 and 132. crews will work around the clock to try to fix the road. the problem was discovered around noon yesterday. it first just looked a couple feet across but once crews started to work on it, the road began to crumble. it's now several feet across and several feet deep. drivers say the detour will be inconvenient, but they understand that it's necessary. people have been frustrated, but crews say there was a leaking water pipe under the asphalt that may have caused the problem. >>> now to our election coverage this

driving just so we're clear. george's here taking care of things behind the wheel this morning because we do have very wet slick conditions on the roadways. we're headed through richmond right now had westbound on 580. we will take you outside and will show you a live picture of what it looks like out the front window. you can see the windshield wipers are working. this morning the rain is coming down. it is not heavy by any stretch, but it is very steady and has not stopped since we left the station a short time ago. these are the conditions that we have encountered and seen throughout the morning. this is some video that my photographer shot while he was driving along 180 coming through oakland this morning. the rain was coming down pretty good in that area. the concern is going to be the accidents in the spinoffs that we tend to see when we had the slick conditions . with someone crash in the oakland area this morning.-- we saw one crash in the oakland area this morning. give yourself plenty of extra time on days like this. conditions are certainly slick throughout the bay area. we'
