private school principal accused of having inappropriate contact with a student. george simons worked at the concept school when police say the crimes happened. this isn't the only local school where he's worked with children. drew smith is live this afternoon with the allegations and the school's response as well. drew? >> reporter: we found out the school board here at the concept school has fired george simons and while the school may be closed for the summer this police investigation certainly is not. they're asking anyone with information to come forward because there may be other possible victims out there. george symonds is out of jail free on bail. his attorney tells nbc10 he maintains his innocence and will fight the charges. but chester county district attorney tom hogan says he has a strong case independence the former principal of the school. >> that's tremendous abuse of position of trust and also tremendous abuse of power. >> reporter: hogan said the 62-year-old began the illegal contact with the eighth grade student last year and it continued this year with texts and e-mai

let's check in on the investigation itself. george spencer live at east detectives. >> george the train's engineer was there, and he was with his attorney. but he's not talking? >> reporter: that's exactly right, renee. it's been a hub all day. this is the place where investigators from across the east coast are using as a meeting post. and we've confirmed that the engineer came here after the derailment. he came with his attorney. but philadelphia police confirmed to us that he declined to give any statement at all about what happened. take a look at some of the video that our cameras got here during the day. we can see a host of the scene leaders and investigators in and out of this building. we saw office of emergency management, railroaded administration and many other agencies here. as for the engineer himself, philadelphia police commissioner ramsey tells us the engineer was not hostile, he simply said that the engineer declined to give any statement at all to his investigators. we come back out here live you may be wondering, according to the mayor, the ntsb at least in the

a crash-landing of a us airways plane at george bush enter continental airport in houston. one of the dozens of passengers on board snapped these pictures today. today passengers on board that plane are talking to nbc10. that flight took off from philadelphia last night without any problem. but the crew signaled trouble adds they were getting ready to land in houston. deanna durante learned what it was like on board. you spoke to a montgomery county who was a passenger. what is he saying about the experience? >> reporter: he says it was very calm on the plane. they were told by the pilot there was a problem with the landing gear and they were going to circle the tower. passengers tell me it was upon their second circling around the tower they knew something was wrong. they say the crew kept them informed and they had no choice but to trust them with their lives. >> it was incredibly calm. >> reporter: in row two, jim smith saw the sparks and smelted the smoke and he got off to plane as fast as he could. >> the flight attendant was yelling out, head down you know head down arms cro

expensive problem for this town. george keeps the place as clean as he can, but at night, all bets are off. the town just installed lights in a couple of spots. the town doesn't have its own police department although some county police officers live and park their vehicles near here. the town is offering the $1,000 reward for information about the vandals. town leaders are hoping observant neighbors will keep their eyes and ears open. he hopes the vandals suddenly just decide to do the decent thing. >> there's a place for all of us to come and enjoy nature and enjoy the park and i wish they would come enjoy the park so everybody can enjoy it. >> and if anyone sees anything they want you to call town hall or delaware state police. the mayor also has another idea. he's asked state troopers if you have any paperwork to do traffic reports, anything like that, they want you to consider doing it here in this parking lot. you come over here you plant yourself here and hopefully deter vandals. i'm tim furlong, nbc 10 news. >> good idea thank you very much tim. >>> nbc 10 news at 5:00 is next. >>

, george spencer, "nbc10 news." >>> some people in the area began the day in single digits. chief meteorologist glenn "hurricane" schwartz is here with the forecast. >> that's right. we have a storm that's going to be coming close to parts of the area. it's nice and clear right now. not a whole lot of wind. still pretty cold. snow fairly close right now, but this is not the storm going to affect it. out into arizona and new mexico that's going to be moving to the east over the next couple of days. ist going to pick up gulf of mexico moisture as you see, and kind of expand. there's going to be a large area of precipitation here. and part of our area is going to be on the northern edge of this as we go into thursday morning. obviously, the best chance of snow is in extreme southern delaware and extreme south jersey. there is the potential for some accumulation on this. i'll have more on the exact timing, how much snow may occur and how far inland that snow is likely to go with the seven-day in a few minutes. >> thanks glenn. sky force 10 over a fire at a shoe stoers in kensington. l

kerry and retired school teacher george. christian san has been mayor since last june. he won a special election last april. >>> we've been telling you about this. want to show you this tree from another angle in westville, gloucester county. looks like it came as close to the house as it could get. it hit the house. look how it hit the roof on the corner. that's in new jersey. but here in philadelphia the rain once again is picking up britney. >> that's right. we've seen strong wind gusts with our isolated thunderstorms from this afternoon. peak wind gusts at philadelphia international airport up to 71 miles per hour. so it's no wonder we're starting to get pictures in just like that. if we take a closer look at the radar, we're still not done with all these showers. in fact some of the heaviest downpours moving into parts of philadelphia. if we take a closer look at where all these showers are going, they'll continue to track to the east. light rain in bensalem but we'll see heavier rain picking up there. more of a moderate rainfall probably in the next 20 minutes or so. this
