announced a three-count indictment against two prince george's county police officers in connection with the beating of a university of maryland student after the duke basketball game in march of 2010. chris gordon is on the phone from upper marlboro, chris? >> reporter: yes the prosecutor says after a 16-month investigation, a grand jury has returned three-count indictments charging special operations division officer reginald baker and officer james harrison with first-degree assault, second-degree assault and misconduct in office. she said she takes no pleasure in bringing this indictment, but it is her duty. an indictment is not a finding of guilt. it is merely the first step of a long process where an impartial grand jury has determined there's probable cause that a crime occurred. there was a third officer involved in the alleged beating of jack mckenna, a student at the university of maryland, on knox road that night in march of 2010. the third officer was not charged and a police officer wrote a report charging studenting with assault on police officers, a videotape -- the v

right. pat collins on the story for us live in kensington. pat, thank you. >>> in prince george's county, a school bus full of students in college park snagged low-lying power lines and got tangled up in them. this was near the intersection of route 1 and guilford road. officials say there were about 40 students onboard heading home from hyattsville middle school. no injuries the the students and driver had to wait on crews to move the lines. after about a half hour the bus was on its way. also in prince george's county, fire and rescue units remain on the scene of a serious accident involving three vehicles in bowie. police say it started as a head-on collision. just after 4:00. near route 197 and grayson lane. firefighters had to cut two adults from their vehicles. they were both flown to area hospitals for treatment. several others were also injured. route 197 is that area -- in that area remains closed while police investigate. >>> a delta flight from paris landed safely in maine after it was diverted because of an unruly passenger. this was delta flight 273 bound for atlanta.

briefing from the prince george's county police chief. we are learning more details about the four bodies found in this home on third street. we do know there were two females and two children. the female are in their late 30s. the children, a girl, 3 years old. a boy, 5 years old. we do know the manner of death. we are told they have died from gunshot wounds. some of the neighbors in this area say they were asked by police early this morning if they remembered hearing any gunshots. the other circumstances of this remain fluid. police say they have several persons of interest they are talking to. people who possibly came out of the maybe house just in front of the garage with the four bodies were found. the police chief hylton described the conditions in there as squall i had. he said it is like a landfill inside. the house has been cried for housing violations earlier. the authorities did make a return visit. even though those conditions were not cleared up. the investigation still goes on. they are not identifying these victims positively, pending notification of next of kin. earlier we

less than 24 hours prince george's county police are investigating a child apparently drowning in a bathtub. the latest incident happened in beltsville. paramedics rushed to an apartment on evans trail this morning after a 10-month-old boy was found unconscious in a tub and pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. the baby's mother was home at the time. this is similar to a story last nights on hubbard road in landover where a 6-year-old girl was found unresponsive in a bathtub. so far charges have not been filed in either case. police are reminding all adults to never leave a young child near water unattended. >>> engineers have started a five-day inspection of the washington monument to check for cracks and other damage from last month's earthquake. a crew member climbed out of a hatch at the top of the structure this morning. tomorrow they will use ropes to repel down the sides of the monument. this comes a day after surveillance video is released showing the moment that the quake rattled the d.c. landmark. and news4's tom sherwood is live now from the national mall with
