with disabilities. . >>> a fatal crash in prince george's county. one person is dead, a second is hospitalized after the early morning accident. police say around 3:00 this morning, a mazda was struck head-on by a honda on indian head highway. the driver of that mazda was pronounced dead at the scene. the driver of the honda was taken to the hospital with nonlife threatening injuries. no names or who was at fault yet. >>> president obama signed a disaster declaration for texas, meaning aid will final funnel to recent areas affected by flooding. >> but the threat of severe weather isn't even. parts of the state are bracing for another storm system to move through. chris martinez has the latest from lewisville, texas. >> reporter: police in this dallas neighborhood are going door to door, urging residents to evacuate because of rising flood waters. >> it's like you feel bad when you see it because a lot of people work for this and now it's all destroyed. >> reporter: at least 25 people have died in storms in texas since memorial day weekend. nearly a dozen are still unaccounted for.

car was trying to make a left-hand turn by the prince george's mall. a motorcycle apparently hit that car and we are going to pan over and show you the distance. it went over the car. it crashed into a group of pedestrians waiting for the traffic light to cross. there is a family involved. several people were injured including two children. one person has died as a result of this crash. we are going to show you some close-up videotapes to get an idea of how much damage was done here. this all unfolded late this afternoon as people were coming back on the mall. this mall is now across from the metro station so it's a busy station. the bake was going west on east/west highway when it struck that car making a left turn. we hope to get more details coming up in an hour or so as to who exactly was involved with there. but a horrific accident here on memorial day weekend. and right now, a section of east/west highway going west near the ball is closed down. >>> the weather this holiday weekend is off to a great start. let's find out from first alert meteorologist howard bernstein. >> r

items, we're told, from prince george's county firefighters packed from top to bottom in this condo. a resident tells me an 87-year- old man crawled out of a window to escape the flames and smoke. some of the debris here outside of his condo right now, just lying here on the ground, just a lot of debris, charred mess, as you can see. prince george's county fire says all that clutter in the condo made it difficult for firefighters to contain this fire. it really hampered efforts this morning. 18 people are now displaced, including the 87-year-old resident. the elderly man was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation and minor cuts. the two-alarm fire sent 60 firefighters to the scene around 5:00 this morning. smoke was billowing from the three-story building, as fire ripped through the chelsea wood condominium in green belt. it sent kelly smith rushing outside. >> i looked out the window, saw a million lights. looked like christmas. freaked out, grabbed the dog, ran outside. >> reporter: a few days ago, in arlington county, firefighters performed a dramatic rescue when a three-alar

maryland students robbed overnight by armed intruders. principal prince george's county police say the men stormed into the apartment, armed with a knife and a beebee gun when they confronted five students in the apartment around 4:00 this morning. >> it's very common. i've gotten many e-mails about armed robbery off campus. it happens maybe five times a year. it's not going to make me not live in the apartment, you know? >> i want to feel safe when i come home. i don't want to feel like i'm walking into a situation that, where i might risk or my belongings will be taken. i'm really scared to hear that. >> one of the victims suffered an injury to his hand. this evening, police are searching for three men and they want to hear from anybody with information about this case. >>> well, it doesn't feel like spring out there this evening. any chance the temps will climb a little bit tomorrow? let's head over to first alert meteorologist erica grow. any good news in this? >> well, there is a little bit of good news for tomorrow, but the real good news doesn't arrive until the work week. o

shower still in prince george's county, north of upper marlboro. that will be pulling in towards anne arundel, calvert, st. mary's. st. charles looking better. when you get into st. mary's, northern part, prince frederick, these are the heavy downpours we're tracking. dahlgren, east of fredericksburg, all moving off to the southeast at about 25 miles an hour. so looks like it's going to be the heaviest stuff. i know there's been rain ahead of it, but the heaviest stuff, hollywood, 7:38. one lone shower still holding together just north of cross junction, toward northern frederick county. our friends in winchester will have to watch that. that's the only threat i think that we'll have to see for fireworks this evening. right now, 76. hit 85 today due to the sun that come out midday. muggy, dewpoint at 70. with light winds, we'll have fog in spots tonight. most temps in the 70s right now. fredericksburg, still 81 degrees. considering this is july 4, it could be 10, 20 degrees warmer. not bad at all. we're looking good for fireworks. storms are pulling away, slight chance here and there.

morning in the 5500 block of livingston terrace. prince george's county firefighters arrived to find major damage already to the roof of the apartment building. a quick-thinking resident had pulled the alarm and everybody managed to get out safely. investigators say that fire started in a heat and air conditioning unit. >>> a vigil is planned in less than two hours at mary washington university for a slain student from this area. two house mates found grace mann unconscious friday afternoon. the 20-year-old junior from falls church, virginia was taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead. fredericksburg police have charged a third house mate, stephen vander brill with abduction. police are releasing few details about the crime. vander brill is being held without bond tonight. we've got a crew in fredericksburg right now and we'll have a report tonight at 11:00 from the vigil. >>> police are combing the arlington neighborhood where a mom of two was found dead on friday. police say 42-year-old bonnie black was in the middle of a contentious divorce. neighbors called police after they

happened just after 11:00 last night in the 8600 block of green belt road. when prince george's county police responded, they found the body of 26-year-old shane francis smyth in a parking lot, had been shot several times. no word on a motive or suspect at this point. police don't believe this shooting was random. >>> two people are under arrest after a chase and crash on eastbound i-66. virginia state troopers pulled over the driver of a dodge charger who was wanted by police shortly after 3:00 this afternoon. while a trooper was taking the driver into custody, a male passenger in that charger hopped in the driver's seat and sped off. state police gave chase until the driver lost control of the car and crashed into other vehicles near gliebe road. the driver is also in custody tonight. two other people suffered nonlife threatening injuries. only the left lane is getting by the scene right now. >>> we're under a yellow alert for the chance of showers or storms tonight and into tomorrow morning. meteorologist olga breeze is in for erica tonight. >> yes, we're definitely tracking moistur
