the new york stock exchange. >> reporter: good morning. china's stock market is surging and back open today after a week-long holiday. in the u.s., the dow is inching back up to the 17,000 mark. yesterday the dow jumped another 122 points. the nasdaq gained 42. strike averted. the united auto workers union and fiat chrysler have reached a tentative deal. it was announced just after the the union rejected a previous deal last week. volkswagon's top u.s. executive will testify before congress today about the company's emissions cheating scandal. and michael horn is expected to apologize. the automaker was caught rigging software so cars could pass u.s. pollutions tests. and this is a curious bit of auto engineering, a lexus sedan made entirely of card board. it took three months to glue together. the car has an electric motor and lights which means it is drive. not sure how that would do on the l.i.e. chris and mary -- >> does it have an umbrella? what do you do? >> so many questions, jill. we will get back to you with answers. thank you so much. >>> coming up, the important vitamin man

strong. she is though concerned about overseas economies like china. we could see a rate hike late they are year. investors didn't know how to process the news. first stocks fell and then rose and then dropped again. the dow finished 65 points lower. the nasdaq closed up about five points. a warning for apple users, a significant number of customers say that their devices crashed while downloading the new operating system. many took to social media to complain. and one glitch seems to be affecting customers with older smart phones and ipads. apple has not commented. american airlines doesn't know what caused a computer glitch that grounded hundreds of flights yesterday. flights to and from dallas, miami and chicago were stopped for about two hours. there's no indication that american was hacked. and how about a six-pack of tablets? amazon is rolling out a 7-inch tablet for $50 and you can buy a pack of six for $250. that brings the individual price down to just $41. and amazon is hoping that the lower price will attract new customers. especially around the holidays. >> yeah. >> a good i
