continues towards europe. president obama also spoke about china at the white house friday. the president trying to pass a deal that would make it easier to negotiate trade with asia. he says if it doesn't pass, china would fill the void and essentially cut the u.s. out of the world's fastest growing markets in asia. meantime, newly released satellite images show china's newest military grade runway on an island in the disputed south china sea. these are the stills taken last month and published thursday by janes defense weekly. several countries including china claim control of the island chain. but at least one expert says, it's the manner in which china is claiming it that is worrying. >> there is nothing inherently illegal about building some building some structures and -- and even declaring an air defense identification zone. all coastal states have the right to do that. it is really the manner in which china is proceeding. that is causing concern. while other countries in the south china sea did already engage in some island construction, china is taking this to an indust

india, bangladesh and china. the india government is offering $3500 to families of the victims in india. many are dead on mt. everest. this picture was taken as an avalanche was hitting, as it hit the base camp. aid organizations are trying to get food, medicine and clean water. several countries have already started shipping supplies into nepal. it is early afternoon right now and aid workers are pouring into the country and the surrounding areas with the food, water and other thing that is are desperately needed. nepal's ambassador to china said, quote, a friend in need is a friend indeed. india is also offering a hand. the aid is on the way, but getting it to the people on the ground will not be easy. >> reporter: no, it won't. as we have been reporting, the area has felt 34 aftershocks and tremors since the strike. here is calcutta, where i am, we felt a tremor. we are 900 kilometers away from nepal. it is an hour long flight, yet we felt the aftershock as well. people came running out of the building, stood outside in the open. train and metro services here in calcutta are su

. secretary of state john kerry urging china to take action to reduce tensions in the south china sea. secretary kerry and his chinese counterpart met in beijing earlier. they discussed china's claims of sovereignty over much of the hotly disputed waters. now he said they beth agreed the region needs smart diplomacy. china recently reclaimed land on numerous sites there. a move that is aggravating several neighbors who also claim the territory. >> south korea will allow a group of women peace activists to march across the demilitarized zone between north and south korea. that is according to a reuters report. the women cross dmz group says it plans to march on may 24th from pyongyang to the dmz. now, two members of the group spoke earlier on cnn and ex-planned what they're marching for. explained what they're marching for. >> we will make a call for action to end longest war in 21st century, and 20th century. korean war never be over. we only have a cease-fire. when we make armistice, 1953, they said we will have a peace treaty within three months. that three months became 262 years.
