difficult life before he came here from china. do they seem stunned at some of these revelations on what he did? when he was younger? >> reporter: i'm sort of stunned. some of the things that i'm hearing especially the way he was brought up. he's been in and out of prison quite a bit. 1985, in prison for armed robbery. he went back to a life of crime. then again, he went to prison in 2003 but he made the deal where he had to talk about one of his friends and ride him out in exchange for getting out of prison early. so he says it was that sort of whole turning point in his life when he got out of prison. that time in 2003. he said, i'm giving up my life of crime. i'm going to tell kids they need to stay out of gangs and said, this is the moment when everything turned around for him. at one point, he didn't yell very passionately, i did not kill alan leung, the businessman in chinatown he's accused of either murdering or ordering hit for. >> it will be very interesting to see what happens, how the tone changes when he is cross- examined. tara moriarty, thank you. >>> we are learning more t
