dreading. tai shan was taken from the national zoo and he's now on a flight to china. our love aware with china gan in 2005 when we learned that a male panda had been born at our zoo. he was no bigger than a stick of butter, and he beat the odds. hanging out in the yard, playing with toys, eating a lot of bamboo and by dember of last year, our little guy weighed in at a whopping 168 pounds. tai shan's return to china is all part of an agreement made years ago between the u.s. and china to keep this endangered species from becoming extinct. news4's chris gordon joins us with more on what became a farewell tour for our little bear. chris? >> he's on a jet plane. it's called the panda express, and it's in the air right now. we're tracking its progress. it took off about 5 1/2 hours ago. and we've been looking at an internet map throughout the afternoon. it puts the plane over greenland, icelan it's about 1/3 of the way to china. it's expected to land there friday afternoon. we are sure of this. the in-flight snack is bamboo. the journey began at the national zoo early this morning. at t
