housing. the concern that has troubled me the most was about the case that the city is on in trying to deliver on 400 units. the goal which was instigated in 2008 and hoping they would arrive at an objective by 2012 is now -- has now been extended to 2015 because they are now were on pace. only 119 units have been pre identified, a pre developed, not developed. when you look at the spectrum of what the need is due out the city, i think that a strong case has been made that this is quite in order to make the project feasible, it is affirmed by the fact that we have 92-story buildings, three-story buildings, 34-story buildings in that area. across the street, we have a bus yard. it helps explain why this is justified. realizing some of the impacts that are of concern, but also realizing that as it was testified, it is strongly residential. it is sandwiched between those two or three blocks is the oldest public housing project development in san francisco. it started in 1952 were client and children do use booker t.. the other side, you have it on the hill itself across the street from

diagram here shows the city pattern for the streets in san francisco where there's a one-on-one relationship for street width to street heights. this came from the market octavia plan and it's recommended rule of thumb for height to street with ratios. so as we start to look at the presidio ave elevation, we have a 55-foot high building that comes up and is pushed towards presidio ave, which allows more of a height to widths ratio. then it drops down towards the bid block. and as we turn the corner, he break the building into two pieces and reduce it more than the buildings across the street. so give it ahill more vertical and slimmer profile. then at the back we break it down again with a 13-foot setback from sutter street and then a 15-foot setback from the rear yard. so you can see as we set back the fifth floor, this height at 45 feet is basically very close to what the compromise building has been talked about. so if we were to have a 45-foot building that came all the away across. if you follow the cursor, this would actually fill in this corner with. this 45 foot, we're s

whole project is based on a private motive. the city had some planning, perhaps the community land trust to get some funding. perhaps the gymnasium could have been more primarily used for the use to attend booker t. washington rather than a private high school. that's another point of contention -- the school is going to have primary use of the gymnasium. that is something that should be considered. perhaps with the mayor's office of housing, they could provide more funds to get more housing for transitional use.
