let's bring in david moeser, the former finance director for dnc and professor of public policy and politics at international affairs at georgetown university. brad, let's start with you. is the timing of this the issue or is the issue who's going to be the next attorney general? >> i think it's both. but republicans have to take stock of the fact that the president has the power to appoint those who he wants to serve in a cabinet officer. they serve at his pleasure and timing of coming and going is really his timtiming. he's in danger of losing the senate. if the president wants to not make politics an issue, nominate your selection now. let's get the process started. don't wait until after the election to do it. and quite frankly, republicans should stand down on the timing of the issue because if the shoe was on the other foot, we would do exactly the same thing. >> that's what josh earnest pointed out, president bush nominated somebody that ended up being a lame duck vote there. speaking of who the nominee should be, are we going to see president obama nominate someone in the like of eri

i also want to thank the ceo of the dnc, amy dacey. give amy a big round of applause and to the co-founders of the women's leadership forum. >> that seems like an endorsement. is that enough to keep your job? >> no, not necessarily. the truth of the matter is, keeping your job at this stage may have as much to do with what comes next, or rather who comes next as who comes behind. if hillary clinton continues to, as i think she will, command the democratic party, then there will come a day sooner rather than later when she will decide who shall be the dnc chair and that's the person who will be the dnc chair. but it is a lot of inside stuff. i once asked my students if anybody could define what the dnc was. and a lot of the women looked a little embarrassed, like i was asking them about some gynecological procedure. but nobody raised their hand. so i don't think the dnc is a major force outside of washington and fund-raiser. and whoever the nominee is on either side always controls the party. >> yeah. but back there on capitol hill, tho

what was it the dnc chair woman talking about scott walker. she had to apologize for saying he had given the back of his hand for women. the rhetoric is inflammatory and the republicans don't have a response. >> they don't. and they back down every time that the democrats get up in their face. but on things like job security, national security, open borders is something that undermines both of those things. that's something that really matters to women, job security and national security. open borders now, just today here we are on the national civil rights day and what does the american government decide to do? sign a deal with mexico saying that we're going to protect mexican workers, legal and illegal. wait a minute, what are american workers? this is what's really on the minds and hearts of american women right now. >> dr. gina louden, great to have you with us. >> a pleasure. >> congratulations on the book. we recommend it highly, "what women really want." you'll be shocked. on sale online at book stores everywhere. >>> david tweeted me i
