want to take you to our own ron mott, who is there. >> well, good morning from daytona beach. we're really starting to get into the thick of this storm as hurricane matthew makes its way, the eye of that storm, makes its way toward daytona beach. the forecast is calling for it to remain offshore, which is obviously good news. the further offshore it goes, the better it is for this community. that will lessen the chance we'll see the stronger hurricane force winds swirling around the eye of that storm. the winds obviously can do property damage. that's a given. what is a big concern is the storm surge and the water coming off the ocean because 9 times out of 10 it's going to be the water that may cause a loss of life. now, at 12:45 precisely eastern time, that's the next high tide cycle in this area. we do expect to see some flooding take place. the question is, just how close that eye is because it's going to be right off our shore line here, maybe 40, 50 miles away, and it depends on how strongly those winds are blowing at that hour that will determine the actual storm surge. right
