this is my 23rd san francisco pride. my 29th overall pride since i came out as a gay man a long, long time ago. time flies. i am optimistic for our community in many ways. this community that been through so much in terms of the hate crimes and the worst of the hiv aids crisis and housing crisis and all of the other weighs in which our community that struggled over the years in san francisco and elsewhere. we are so resilient and the community comes back and comes back and gets stronger and stronger. i am so proud to be part of our lbgt community, particularly in san francisco. that doesn't mean we don't center challenges. i think pride is the right time of the year for us to recommit to celebrate and recommit to the fight. of course, we know what this guy is doing in washington, d.c. in the white house to undermine and harm our community including our children, attacking children. it is something that it is hard to fathom that you have a president of the united states who would attack lbgt children. apart from what he i

i am a citizen of san francisco. this reminds me of a clichÉ for people my age one mark twain debated -- they debated whether mark twain should be taught in schools because he referred to african-americans, slaves that one of his characters was with, by the name that was used at that time, and it was horrifying to some people. it remains something that we are all ashamed of, but the idea of taking down mark twain because he was painting the picture of the way the south was then, the idea that that should not be taught and we should never know what those words were is absurd. i think it is frankly ignorant, and i'm glad that mark twain was never censored. i hope you will not censor this painting. it has profound implications and it portrays an aspect of our history we are embarrassed about and ashamed about. some of the aspects, in a portion of the mural, but i certainly hope you will never take it down. francisco that make san francisco such a great city. it is about making bureaucracy more efficient. that is what this building is about. i know people don't get excited around efficiency, but i do. because i know you all remember when it was taking us 18 months to build one accessory dwelling unit and putting out an executive directive to bring in the fire department and planning and building department to work together. we completely reduced the time. now it takes up to six months. streamlining the process is critical to building more housing and making sure the festivals and events and nightlife that we are so excited to have in our city continues without delay because san francisco as we know is a special place, but we only work when we work more efficiently together. i am excited, and i know those over 1800 employees are excited to have new bathrooms and shower and places to park bicycles and the other great things we are adding to new buildings. i want to thank everyone who is building this place and the work you are doing to get t

the union square i remember gave me a sense of san francisco. i really feel that union square is absolutely part of the world stage. the millions of visitors that come to union square leave with an impression they don't forget. i haven't forgotten mine. and mine was one of, this is the friendliest city. people are so nice. i was comparing it to new york where i came from. i also thought it was a really clean city. and a really approachable city. and i couldn't wait to make this my home. i now have the pleasure of assisting and managing not just residential communities but iconic buildings on union square where we have people come to work everyday. when you come to work everyday u. it's your home. it's your home away from home. some of the things that i recognized through the bid, i'm in support of the union square b.i.d. renewal. the camera network has been inspirational to me and i am mimicking it across other parts of the city. it has stopped crime. it has been a real aid to our law enforcement professionals who need that assistance and back u

i live in the third district in san francisco. i have been in san francisco for 30 years. i am strongly against naming chinatown subway station after rose pak. two years ago recreation in the park voted to change the embarcadero ferry terminal. it ended as long as several decades of argument whether to use a place name to name after justin hermon. even though herman at the time was instrumental for development in san francisco but he also severely hurt the grassroots in the social community. and they changed the name is also done by supervisor peskin. this is the time to open a new page in history. and now we're also facing the time to open another page in history and let's not repeat the same mistake. there are so many people who came over here with their own time to express their opinion against the naming intention and it's really important we have to use this time to argue. maybe we should spend our time on more important issues about san francisco. all because of peskin single happenedelly trying to push it through. >> thank you. >> next speaker. >> i'll do the transl
