bob redell is live along 101 in san carlos. what kind of delays are we talking about here, bob? >> reporter: laura, caltrans is anticipating nothing more than 15-minute delays during the morning commute on 101 and the peninsula. starting tonight caltrans will shut down some of the lanes in both directions. we're talking about northbound on southbound 101 here on peninsula between whipple avenue and redwood city and the freeway or highway 380 in south san francisco. the closures will run from 9:00 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. sunday through thursday night. caltrans warned that some lanes might not open until 6:00 a.m. and these closures are expected through 2022 as they build new express lanes in each direction. workers will convert the carpool lanes between santa clara and san mateo county line and build if you express lanes between whipple and 380 express lanes that run through and the hov toll lane and still free for car poolers and open to noncar poolers who want to pay using their fast track transponder. along 101, bob redell, for "today in the bay." >>> today in san francisco city lea

bob redell has the story and details on what is going on at the on-ramp. there you are, bob. >> reporter: good morning to you, mike. i was just speaking with with a chp sergeant leading this investigation. they tell us that they are about to open the on-ramp, the mallory avenue on-ramp on 80 that is shut down since around 3:00 this morning when the shooting happened. the sergeant did indicate they found about five bullet cases here on the on-ramp and it it was around 3:00 this morning there was a driver of a bmw had who tells chp that there were two cars following him, reasons unknown, but at least the driver or somebody in one of the cars at least one with of the people started shooting at him. and hit his vehicle. now the driver of this bmw, this is video here, drove his car to the fremont fire station number eight which is about four and a half miles from here and called 911. you could see the officers there were investigating. they found two bullet holes in the back of his vehicle. he was not hurt. and, again, there are at least one if not two suspect
