at the nasdaq. relatively speaking, it's been around 4 million shares on average. back in late 1999, as you can see, it is somewhat similar in the chart pattern. a little more rocky, certainly. but the next reveal says it all. take a look at the volume in recent months during that last march. the volume was considerably higher back in 1999 when the nasdaq hit 3,000. bottom line, the chart pattern may be the same, but when it comes to investor participation, it's totally different this time versus 1999, largely because investors are afraid, and have not participated in this market. certainly individuals. even institutions, many of whom have kept their money in cash, very low yielding instruments. small caps have been making a run in 2012. performance has been a very big standout. the russell 2000 index is up more than 12%. since october of 2011 it's up more than 30%. investors don't seem to be buying the run as money has been flowing out of small caps, mutual funds and etfs. is that the wrong move to
