in the case of president obama coming at mr. romney, mr. romney has been practicing how to answer the question without overreacting or being snappy. then try to essentially turn it around and unveil a bill of particulars, criticisms, indictments of the obama administration. the buzz in the spin room before the debate tonight, shown, is sn one candidate has won the first presidential debate, the second debate, even if it's won by the other candidate, doesn't reverse the polls. what the obama campaign and the romney campaign acknowledge is that really the best the president can hope for tonight is to win the debate and stop romney's momentum. there's another debate next week on monday. less than a week away from now. so were the president to win tonight and then again in the foreign policy debate at boca raton, florida, next week, perhaps he could regain momentum. both sides acknowledge there's no history of someone being able to win the second debate, having lost the first, and totally reverse the polls. shep? >> shepard: the debate commissi
