we have robust expanded health care access for san franciscans. we have nurses and health care workers who are being treated with the same dignity as our brothers and sisters in the trade. those are all wonderful, wonderful accomplishments. if there are any lessons for the battle of cathedral hill going forward, we know that many of the changes with affordable care act will all be good for san francisco. so, then we'll be quite challenging preserving the social safety net. and we have learned that many of the ideas that come from the process of bringing voices up from the grassroots and devising solutions from the grassroots when combined with some of the formidable technical expertise that is in this community, in these hospitals, we can solve these problems and we can move forward. we look forward to the day when all of us can actually have these dialogues about how to build the type of city and the type of health care system that every single san franciscan can enjoy, deserves, and hopefully we won't have to fight for it as hard as we did this

i won't go on too long, but i am also a native san franciscan. i couldn't believe it sitting here, seeing so many folks who are native san franciscans. i don't usually see that, but it was pleasant to see folks who are native to san francisco come up and make presentations. i was actually born and raised in the commission distributeding in san francisco, and graduated from mission high school and later got my degree in public administration and serves as executive director for two mayors and had an opportunity to work with many folks, non-profit organizations, organizations, members of the board of supervisors and others and was able to enjoy what my passion is, is to work, especially with low-income communities and non-profit organizations to build affordable housing in san francisco, but also to provide needed services such as child-care and workforce development and so on. during my tenure as executive director, i was able to have the opportunity to be involved in provide something of those programs to the city. also i had some national involv

san franciscans during campaigns read everything they are sent in the mail. love to meet candidates. a gauge with them in conversations. i also learned how important it is to build bridges between communities, particularly communities of diversity we have. i was just incredibly honored to have been elected in november 2008. my district really encompasses the ethnic and economic diversity that exists throughout the city. as a result, i think my district is really emblematic of the entire city. you can find every political perspective that you could possibly want in district 3. so oftentimes, the interest of my district and the city really are quite a line, so i do not have to think about this difference is probably quite as often as some of my colleagues may have to. i in particular want to thank the mayor for his decision to protect our nutrition programs. this is something that i think we all believe is incredibly important at a time when we have seen massive federal and state cuts, for us to hold the line locally and stand up in the city of st. francis for
