other questions facing the auto industry we invited the best of the best. lauren fix, she is the car coach and automotive aspects founder and jeff shuster. senior vice president of forecasts. good to see you both. jeff, first to you. why the disconnect between the november numbers and what happened to the stock price today? >> well i think there's a no question, i think some of the numbers were expected. we were looking for actually pretty strong results for the detroit brands in terms of auto sales. but that doesn't necessarily correlate with the stock price. obviously there are some other things going on. i think impact of what is happening with the city of detroit could be a factor. really hard to say what's driving investors right now. david: well, lauren, the auto bailout, go back to those days, it was sold as a way to save detroit. clearly it didn't. detroit is just about to declare bankruptcy. what does that mean for the auto industry? >> well the auto industry, think about it, go back a few years, those are people that leased cars. that is why they're buying cars like crazy n

success moving forward. lauren the founder of automotive aspects and has studied the auto industry as a reporter and a road racer, your reaction to this news. >> the whole auto industry is excited to have the first female in charge of the a global auto manufacturer. she has literally broken the glass ceiling. surprisingly this has not happened in the past. we're excited to see what she can do with the corvette, impala and other products she has been involved in. i think g.m. will have great products coming down the road. >> lauren, what has been the success to g.m. in the last years? >> i think think the products. after they take the bailout a lot of people got discouraged in the brand, and now they're bringing those buyers back based on new designs, new technologies, making cars that people want to buy. and i think that's a big part of what g.m. has done especially with the cadillac and buick line up. >> a big part of what their experience is, to turn around g.m. i think their model replacement saw 28% of the entire fleet can be turned around with new design in one year. that's prett

morning. lauren simonetti is at the new york stock exchange looking at all of it. hey, lauren. >> hi, dagen. well, the dow is trying to stay in the green today, up about four points, the nasdaq and s&p 500 are down. i was taking a look, it's unbelievable that for all three major averages this year, there's been only two months where the major averages have been down, june and august. pretty unbelievable when you think about it like that. let's take a look at coke shares, number two in the dow right now. there was an article in barron's over the weekend citing a couple of things that should pique investor interest in the new year, a revival in earnings, steady dividend growth, a growing global middle class. and if you consider the fact that the broader market and the dow both up 26 plus percent this year, coke shares only up about 12%. so they've underperformed and might have some room to grow in 2014. dagen, back to you. dagen: thank you so much, lauren. the white house over the weekend announcing that the obamacare, the national web site, that sign-ups had spiked passing the one mil
