up to record low temperatures. meteorologist kathy orr is live outside right now on the cbs-3 sky deck with your first forecast. kathy? >> right now we have a few clouds out here in center city philadelphia. but many locations are seeing clear skies and get close to many of those records overnight. and for early tomorrow morning. on storm scan3 you can see the clouds still around especially through the philadelphia area. but where it is clear, those temperatures are falling fast. in allentown already 60. the same in reading. the poconos at 54 getting down into the 40s over 98 tonight. philadelphia still holding on to 71. 50s through state college, through scranton and western pennsylvania and those are the cooler temperatures that are moving our way. here are numbers to beat. philadelphia 58. we'll come close but i do not think we'll beat that record. wilmington 55. cape may 54. lower 50s in atlantic city and west chester and allentown the record 50 degrees. coming up we'll take look at how quickly those temperatures will rebound and a weekend spoiler that could provide more cloud

begin with meteorologist kathy orr and what's happening right now. kathy? >> chris and jessica, these storms moved through between 40 and 50 miles an hour. they were quite fast across the delaware valley speeding from western pennsylvania through philadelphia in matter of house and there's more showers and thunderstorms mainly focused through south jersey and into delaware. this is all moving toward the northeast and will continue to move offshore within the next couple of hours. that line of severe weather made it down the shore in a weakened form. we're seeing some very heavy rain in little egg harbor through brigantine, even atlantic city and these storms moving eastward. they'll be in cape may by 11:11 in wildwood lie 11:16. with some very heavy downpours and also gusty winds. the damaging winds were the big story with this particular storm and the main focus you can see across the region, these are all reports of wind damage. thunderstorm wind damage in stratford, trees down and power lines down. in woodbury trees reported down in woodbury mullica hill, washington township

kathy orr. kathy, where are they now? >>> chris a couple hours ago we were more concerned about the shore. but right now the focus is to the north and west west of philadelphia through chester counsel even into northern and central parts of montgomery county backing into the lehigh valley in berks county but all this is moving toward the south southeast. you can see some of that heavy rain almost looping around in southern parts of chester county where doppler radar estimates are between two and 3-inches of rain already with more expected on top of that. these storms moving south southeast at 20 miles an hour. they will be in pike creek by 11:13. in wilmington by 11:21. in bear, delaware, by 11:34 and middletown, delaware, by 11:46. very heavy rain some lightning and gusty winds associated with these storms. here's some of the heaviest rain we've been watching right here along route 1 heading down toward upper oxford and london grove and heading toward hokessin delaware and of course newark and also we're looking at wilmington seeing some of this heavy rain as well. we do have a fla

close. we're tracking storms that could affect your plans tomorrow. kathy orr joins us now. kathy -- what's the lat test? >> we're just seeing warm and humid conditions but that is going to help really fuel these storms. right now a line of storms going through the great lakes. but that is going to change. it's going to be much more impressive as this front and these storms get a little bit closer. right now over michigan now temperatures pretty mild out there. philadelphia 76. 77 in allentown. 71 in millville. but the heat and humidity will build tomorrow. right now it's muggy over the delaware valley. but that oppressive air, that moisture will be moving in and when you add the heat and humidity tomorrow it will be feeling like it's around 100 degrees. this front will get closer during the day. the heat and humidity will build. this will create lift in the atmosphere and we are talking about strong, maybe even a few severe storms. coming up we'll time the storms in and out of your neighborhood and show when you break from the heat and humidity will be moving in. for now though c

kathy. thank you. >>> tonight we're getting a good look at some of the damage from this latest round of storms to move through the area. elizabeth hur is live in glassboro gloucester county where some trees came crashing downton night t liz. >> reporter: that's right, jessica, and talk about a close call. this massive tree behind me when this came crashing down according to residents it brought down some cable lines but fortunately it missed homes and cars. trying to prevent further damage after the storm. >> me and my dad are just slowly cutting branches down so no more fall and hit the house. >> reporter: the barrettes wasted no time picking up the pieces tuesday evening. >> wind and rain, it just -- i don't know how old that tree is but it just came down and it hit the edge of the house. >> reporter: this on morris avenue where dozens lost power. nearby on main street, buried in this debris is monument knocked right off the base when this massive tree came crashing down. >> you can see -- couldn't see 10 feet out of the window. the fast moving storm also left its mark here on rowan u

meteorologist kathy orr she's keeping close eye on these storms and what we can expect as the night progresses. kathy? >>> natasha, these storms have been fast and furious for severe cells developing as the evening has progress. you can see one line moving toward the north and the east and another line forming near baltimore and washington. this moving northeast about 35 miles an hour. it is a line of severe weather. now let's take a closer look at the storms. some hail indicators in couple of these storms and you can see the line that continues to form that is marching toward the east northeast and towards philadelphia. we do have a few severe thunderstorms watches and warnings to pass along to you. this is in new one this extends through new castle county delaware, chester county, delaware county andly through parts of gloucester county and same little county new jersey. talking about severe thunderstorm warning in effect until 11:45 containing damaging winds and also the possibility of hail. these storms will be near wilmington manor about 11:05. newtown square new castle around

. meteorologist kathy orr has been watching it for us all night. kathy what's the latest? >> right now we're still seeing showers and thunderstorms moving across part of the region. our main threat very heavy rain and also still a good deal of lightning out there especially heading into delaware and south jersey take log at storm scan3 you can see as we take you back in time all of the lightning thousands of lightning strikes associate width these storms a line of storms from the poconos down through maryland trudging eastward and it was duration of these storms that created the problem moving east at only about 20 miles an hour. so they laughed hours about six hours to be. then couldn't to do faze as they moved into south jersey. but we had a good deal of damage and two notable instances where southern chester county a lightning strike a house was struck by lightning here and this was in west grove and nearby in oxford we also had some damage a house fire actually due to lightning strike. all this evening with that severe weather rolling in. >> right now we're watching these storm

. meteorologist kathy orr is live on the cbs-3 sky deck. do you have a view of the super moon out there kathy. chris, i did earlier but now it's on the other side of our building. so i'm going to have to wait till i am on my way home to view it. we have a couple more chances as you mentioned to see the super moon. in order to have thistle less tee ya'll event you need a couple of thing. force you need a full moon and that is going to happen early tomorrow morning. then you need the money to be in perigee what astronomers call the closest point to earth in its orbit. the moon and the earth have to be at its closest point. it mack it bigger and 30% brighter. now the best way to view this is when the mon is actually close to the horizon. that's when it looks enormous. three more super moons. one tomorrow night. one august 10th which is expected to be extra super, and one on september 9th. don't miss it. it is beautiful site. storm scan3 showing clearing skies a few clouds in center city but good viewing overnight tonight. and expected tomorrow night as well. 77 in philadelphia. 74 in
