peter alexander has more for us. peter, good morning. >> reporter: lester, good morning. the official charge is injury to a child, reckless and criminal negligent. peterson turned himself in in montgomery county, texas. near houston. he was booked and charged $15,000 bond and released. the vikings marquee running back adrian peterson is on the defensive. on thursday, a montgomery county, texas grand jury recommended indictment of peterson on charge of injury to a child. his attorney issued a statement saying the former mvp used a switch or branch to spank his 4-year-old son. he used the same discipline on the child that he experienced growing up in texas. peterson was at practice on friday. according to his attorney, adrian never intended to harm his son and regrets the injury. the latest headline comes as the sports league which produced $6 billion in revenue last year is fending off questions of the handling of the ray rice domestic violence case captured in the video seen around the globe. a source close to rice tells nbc news, that during the june meeting with goodell

we have breaking news with peter alexander who has been covering this case. what have you learned? >> i just finished a conversation with sources close to ray rice who tell me specifically about the conversation, the meeting that took place this past june with roger goodell, the nfl commissioner attendance and ray rice and ja napalmer. ja napalmer rice, ray rice's then fiance say now wife. these sources close to rice say rice specifically detailed hitting his then fiance in that elevator. most important to this is the fact that he communicated the rice party says that is rice hit his fiance in that elevator, which is important because it contradicts what we heard from goodell earlier this week who says based on what he heard from ray rice, it was ambiguous, which is obviously a contradiction and that he said it was "inconsistent" goodell did to what he said had he heard initially. the sources close to rice tell me he has taken responsibility from the beginning, that he has acknowledged what he has done and working consistently with his wife by seeking counseling that they've been f

peter alexander joins us from the north lawn. there are two main focuses of the president's trip confronting isis and russian aggression in ukraine. let's start with ukraine and the administration plans to address that with nato. >> the first stop is for the president to go toest tone kr e. he's meeting with the presidents. in the words of the senior administration official the desire is to make it clear to russia if they continue with the same sort of behavior that is referred to by the administration as unacceptable in that region, that the white house, this administration, the u.s. will stand up to that specifically saying if they try messing around in those countries like they did in ukraine, they need to watch out. the former ambassador from the u.s. to russia said just today this nato summit taking place later in the week, jose, may be one of the most significant nato summit in years if not decade. poroshenko, the president of ukraine, will be in attendance. those are among the priorities for the president as he heads that

i'm peter alexander. we begin with the news breaking and the ebola epidemic, the third american infected with the virus has now arrived at the nebraska medical center in omaha. he is 51-year-old dr. rick sacra. he landed just after 7:00 and was rushed to the medical center's specialized isolation unit. he got sick about a week ago while treating pregnant women in monrovia, liberia. he left the clinic's isolation unit by ambulance last night. he boarded the plane on his own and was said to be in good spirits. sarah dolloff is joining us life. much like emory university where the first two americans were successfully treated, nebraska is uniquely trained to handle this illness but there's no longer of that experimental drug zmapp, so how does that change things going forward? >> well, it's obviously going to change the course of treatment, peter, but hopefully not the outcome. seven patients were treated with zmapp. five of them survived. that includes those two missionaries who were treated earlier this su
