. first a water main break and then in the effort to make repairs there was a second break at the same location. lets go live to the scene and "action news" reporter, annie mccormick. >> reporter: jim, the first one was really just a traffic disruption and the second water main break later this afternoon that is causing headaches out here especially people that live on the block because more than 50 people are without water, we'll take a look at the operation going on right now, pgw is on hand and they are lowering a beam so they can support a gas line so the water department can start work on the two water main breaks. take a look at this gushing water taken by cell phone video at 28th and dickinson wednesday afternoon. this was the first break of the day. >> all the water started to come up. >> water from the 16 inch main break flooded the intersection and it pushed up the pickup truck giving a show for neighborhood kids but at that point no customers were effected. it came up high off the ground. all the streets were flooded. >> neighbors commended the speedy fix by the water depart

big water main break on a major road many of you take into the district. this is affecting georgia avenue southbound right at the intersection of connecticut avenue. megan mcgrath is live on aspen hill with a look at what crews are doing. >> reporter: aaron, we have quite a mess. a 10-inch water main burst creating this enormous hole in the road. let's take a bird's eye view. you can get an idea how large the hole is in the roadway. this is a a dedicated right-hand turn lane from southbound georgia avenue to turn right on to southbound connecticut avenue. as you can see, that turn lane, that ramp is now completely closed. and that is going to be the case for several hours while they work to repair this water main and back fill the hole and fix the pavement. you cannot take the turn lane to take a right on to connecticut avenue. you'll have to go all the way down to the light and way through the cycles of the light and take a hard right to get on to connecticut avenue. so connecticut avenue is open, but you're going tro have to ge to it further down the line. it could cause a proble
