meteorologist rob mayeda is back. >> good to be back this evening. temperatures right now looking a little more like spring at half moon bay. 70 degrees. compared to 24 hours ago, temperatures have cooled off a little bit as the north winds put temperatures in the 60s and 70s. not quite as strong today. temperatures outside still looks and feels like spring around san jose in the low 60s right now. oakland, a bit cooler at 59 and san francisco, nothing but sunshine at 63 degrees. during the day tomorrow we'll begin to see clouds on the approach. not from the system here off to the west as you might expect this time of year but interestingly enough it's going to come out of the south, almost like a late summer pattern where you get the moisture in the desert southwest. this system will bring the only chance of seeing showers this week. is it going to be enough though, to offset what is shaping up to be a record dry finish for the month of january. right now it doesn't look like we'll get a lot of rain. we'll talk about that and another warming trend a

here's meteorologist rob mayeda. we're looking for any wet news here. >> right now there is the sunset over the silicon valley san jose. 62 degrees right now. notice less haze. we have a little more wind out there so we don't have a spare the air day coming up tomorrow. in oakland, we're down to 59 degrees. cool for parts of the east bay. a golden view of the golden gate bridge. unfortunately, no real signs of a storm on the way. we'll see increasing high clouds. off to the west, this is going to, for the most part send rain off the pacific northwest. it's a system down to the south, almost like a summer pattern where you get the waves that come off baja california. this system will by late tomorrow give us a chance of perhaps a few showers but may not be enough to offset a record dry january, a record, by the way, we broke just last year. coming up in the seven-day forecast, we'll tell you how long the chance of showers will stick around and what to expect next weekend that may be breaking records again. we'll talk

meteorologist rob mayeda joining us now. rob, is there any chance of rain this week? >> there is one chance of rain and a rare one. we wrapped up the weekend up to 72 at half moon bay, starting to cool down 50s and 60s outside right now. a little bit of an east wind will likely pump in more fog like we had this morning. heading into tomorrow morning, you see the low clouds there starting to line up around concord into napa. during the day we'll see increasing clouds. it will pull this system northward and bring us a chance of seeing some showers late tomorrow into tuesday. a relatively weak system but one that could toss a few showers away. on the other coast, a much stronger storm system taking shape. blizzard warnings now up for several states monday into tuesday where snow totals could be merkdasured by the foot. we'll talk more about how much rain we expect coming up in our microclimate forecast in a few minutes. >>> more details on that storm now, rob. they are calling it the great blizzard on the east coast. precautions and preparations under way for this huge w

rob mayeda has been watching this as well for the spare the air day. >> here you see off to dublin, the tri-valley the haze the leading cause of pollutions is the winds go light, and wood smoke, about 38% coming out of cars about 15% and other combustion and dust make up the other 12%. so the main problem here is the wood smoke, and because of that there is another no burn night in the bay area and the unhealthy pollution in the north, east south bay seeing the levels high at times not just for tonight but very likely for a while. as high pressure sets up in the bay area it is like taking the ceiling of a room and dropping it down overnight, the concentration gathers. the classic poor air quality, high pressure locked in on the west coast, not going anywhere for a while. we're seeing hazy skies like san francisco. could lead to more respiratory issues and health issues for folks that suffer from asthma and that sort of thing over the next few days. nbc's christie smith has normore. you talked to air quality officials, what do they recommend this time of year? >> reporter: well really wh
