accumulated in elevenly and that's a beautiful scene there in southern california. it's all associated with the same area of low pressure. the subtropical moisture that's lifting from southern california into northern california but what we're looking at is virga. it's all rain that's evaporating once it hits the land masso it doesn't even hit the land mass it evaporates first. so we have a lot of very dry air mass in place. here's the precipitation. the center of the core of the area of low pressure is already ejecting east so as our day progresses the chances of us getting rained on is going to lessen. these are already well above average. so we should be at 58 in san francisco. and instead it's 65. relativeisolated chances of showers in the forecast. once this area of low pressure kicks out we have this weak disturbance out there. going to undercut the ridge of high pressure and cause partly cloudy skies on thursday. we are dry as we wrap up the month of january and enter february. 66 at the state capital still socked in with fog 68 in monterey and we have light

you see that moisture down here in southern california. it's not even that much but definitely bringing a few areas of rainfall mainly down toward the san diego area. as we get a look at the san jose climate averages, you can see we did average near where we should be for temperatures 61.6 degrees, we only picked up 0.02 of an inch of rainfall this month. that now puts us 2.97 below for the entire month. as we head throughout february we hope for something close to average, which is 2.65. let's take you outside right now. most of the bay area is under sunny skies from the south bay through the east bay. temperatures averaging low to mid 60s. it really was a nice day out there. even if we can't get that rainfall up into the north bay 63 degrees. let's take you into tomorrow morning's forecast. what you're going to find here is we won't start off totally clear. we'll have a few areas of patchy fog for san francisco, east bay right on down to the south bay and you'll need the light jacket to start. i think we'll have a sunny rebound throughou

all this moisture unwinding from low pressure that will be in southern california. late in the day tomorrow we'll go to broken clouds. we'll get increasing sunshine. a little bit of sun as the day goes on. right now it looks like rain coming from the low pressure center that's spinning off of los angeles is going to be confined to monterey and san benito counties. even if it worked its way up here it would be a rogue dropper. low pressure is moving slowly to the north. you've got showers triggered around l.a. and san diego. as it comes farthder north, nothing beyond clouds. then as we head toward the weekend, high pressure builds back in. that will take us back toward sunny conditions and upper 60s. it's grim for january. this will go down if we don't get any rain as the driest ever for san francisco the driest ever january for san jose. and that makes 2015, 2014 2013, januarys in san francisco in the top five driest ever. so this is supposed to be our rainiest month of the year and it has not shaped up that way in three of the last five years. quite the opposite. o
