trump and we are likely to go into the new year with mr. trump because he's leading nationally, he's leading in iowa, he's leading in new hampshire and he's starting to talk about spending money and seemed to hintz there that he was ready to say, i'm going to stay as a republican. >> right. there's sort of like a hint of a threat in his remarks on the third party bid. but i think that, you know, every campaign now has realized that he is a serious force to be dealt with. thinking about their strategy, obviously, we see jeb bush hitting a lot harder, coming back at him and some of the other candidates using that as their way to get some oxygen in the race finally. it will be interesting to see because trump really is getting organized in these early states in a way that no one thought possible before. and it will be interesting to see whether he can translate all of that into actual caucusgoers. come next winter. >> and interesting to see. he has risen in the polls in part, not exclusively, but he got attention early on with his tough views

mr. trump told the "times" "i assured mr. trump we'll continue to cover this campaign with fairness and balance. we had a blunt but cordial conversation and the air has been cleared." and it was. the following morning mr. trump was back on with "fox and friends" like the good old days. some truce was worked out in that phone call. the air was clear. now that truce is over. the war is back on, the leading contender for the republican presidential nomination is back at war with the unofficial official tv network of the republic party that's hard to understand. for whatever reason mr. trump kicked it back on. he went back to criticizing fox news, specifically criticizing megyn kelly. he sent out a series of tweets and retweets criticizing her and her fox news show, sometimes in profane terms. in response something very unusual happened. fox news a competitor of ours at msnbc but they're also something unlike anything else in the media landscape. they are republican party television. so we compete with them but we cover them as a
