across northeast maryland into pennsylvania, where in pennsylvania we're not sure. extreme northern new jersey and then possibly extreme southeastern new york state. maybe make its way into parts of new england and connecticut, massachusetts. but if you follow the wind, they go across the northeast and then get into canada maritime. this is where they may decide if they want to shoot the system down and let it fall to get into a safe zone. but think about this. 16,000 feet, all the airports across this region are going to be high alert. it will give fits to air traffic controllers at 16,000 feet across teterboro, laguardia, jfk, up toward logan. so it will be interesting to find out exactly where this is. but again, we're not sure what the material is, that mean as lot if they decide to let it go to several thousand feet up in the air. >> my goodness, i hope this doesn't affect people flying anywhere in the northeast area. what a mess! spider marks, major general spider marks, i've got you now. let me try it again. we're talking about potentially shooting this thing

because when the clock strikes midnight tomorrow night, the attorney general of the state of pennsylvania, that state's top lawyer, she will no longer have an active license to practice law. attorney general kathleen kane in pennsylvania has been decided for allegedly leaking embarrassing information from a grand jury investigation to what she says are sexist, racist and pornagraphic work e-mail habits of certain public officials in pennsylvania. since being indicted for those alleged leaks, kathleen kane has promised that she will release the porny and racist e-mails she collected in her investigation with names of public officials still attached. she has in fact, started doing just that. she is fighting back. she's also not resigning. but since she is under indictment, the state supreme court has ordered her law license suspended effective 12:01 thursday morning which means midnight tomorrow night. now, having your law license suspended does not remove her from office. she will not resign as attorney general but that raises an interesting question. how can you be the state's top attorne

it slipped from the moorings just before noon and began a slow drift north over pennsylvania. two f-16 fighter jets from a national guard station in new jersey scrambled to clear the way for commercial aircraft. >> it's going down. >> the biggest worry, the 67-00 foot cable that kept the blimp tied down was dragging along the ground, taking out power lines and causing massive power outages. at one point, as many as 30,000 people were without power. the blimp has an automatic deflation system but it's unclear whether or not it worked. after a little more than 3 1/2 hours, the badly damaged blimp finally came down in the woods near central pennsylvania. >> i mean, it's stunning here to figure out what could have gone so wrong. boris is on the line. >> reporter: erin, authorities are working to secure the area. we know there was a military recovery team that was deployed here a few hours ago. it might be difficult because the conditions are rough. the whole way over to where it went down, it appears that it landed in the field so it was a very dark and rural area. you can imagine

what about your state, pennsylvania? has pennsylvania toughened up on gun regulations? >> furirst of all, with regard the president, i think he's done all he can do. this is a matter for congress. congress has to change the law when it comes to how many weapons someone can have who might be deranged and have a real problem. and congress has to act on the mental health provisions i talked about. one thing pennsylvania did years ago, we have more gun owners than almost any other state. and we have a strong tradition for support for the second amendment. lots of hunters, folks who use firearms for sporting. sometimes even collection. and for protection. and that should be -- that obviously should be legal. but in our state, we had an instant background check system put in in the 1990s which should be the kind of model for the country. it didn't solve all the problems, but that's one of the provisions. if you can put in an instant background check system in -- through state government action in pennsylvania, i'm sure you could do it around the country. that's why we have to

the chair: the gentleman from pennsylvania is recognized for one minute. mr. thompson: i thank the chairman. i thank my colleague for the time to speak on this bill. which i wholeheartedly support because ending this oil export ban will not only boost our economy, it would also improve our foreign policy. i also rise with hesitation to a proposed amendment that would remove a provision of this bill boosting payments to the 60 ships of our maritime security fleet. these ships are essential in transporting cargo to the men and women of our armed forces who are serving overseas in harm's way. as evidence of this, 90% of all cargo moved to iraq and afghanistan have been transported on these privately owned ships. as of right now, mr. speaker, the stipend provided by the government is too low to make this program viable for those who have stepped up to defend our nation against foreign threats. without this increase, it is likely that participants will drop out of the program. this obviously is a national security threat. it is estimated that for the government to
