now, if you have seen the pictures from newscopter, you can see that it is a pretty steep lot down into the saddle river channel where that water was very low right now. now, this happened about 4:00. a woman at a nearby restaurant says a man was driving that car that you saw. that witness says the car came speeding through the parking lot just off midland avenue. it crashed through some lumber in the parking lot. then it went through a fence. it went air boesch and -- airborne and flipped over onto the rooftop in the river channel. rescuers got that one person out. there was no one else in the car. they've lifted the car out again. that person, that man was take on a local trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries. at this point, we don't know if it was a person who just hit the gas and didn't know what he was doingor if there was a medical -- doing or if there was a medical condition involved. we'll speak to police to find out what happened. >> find out and lept us know. >>> a passenger on an international flight now under arrest for going berserk midair. police say the woman,

breaking news in midtown as we told you on first at 4:00, a protest is underway outside cuny headquarters, newscopter 7 is remaining over the scene. and shannon stone joins us now with some new information that's just developed. shannon? >> reporter: yeah, diana, this staff and faculty were outside the cuny headquarters here on 42nd street protesting. they wanted their contracts signed after five years without one and after six years without a raise. but right here is a number of these protesters that have been put under arrest. a good 20 or so are now waiting to go into police vehicles. what happened here is that while they were outside protesting, inside there were contract negotiations taking place and they had said that if the negotiations didn't go how they wanted them to go. they were planning on sitting in front of the doors and blocking them and as soon as they did that, police took action. it appears that the people on the right side of your screen, they stayed in the police barricades. went and sat down are now being arrested. a good 20 people arrested and more are taking place. reporting l

newscopter 7 was over the paterson armory early this morning. eyewitness news reporter dray clark just arrived at the scene. dray what's the latest? >> reporter: good morning ken, firefighters still have their hands full. this fire far from being placed under control. behind me you can see still a lot of smoke and flames coming from the roof of the building. firefighters started battling this fire on the 400 block of market street around 11:00 last night. it's believed the fire started in the basement of the now abandoned paterson armory build asking the flames have now -- building and the flames have now escalated and reached the roof of of the building. firefighters have been hitting the building from every possible angle all night long but the fire just won't quit. it's very stubborn. because of the large five alarm fire, sever schools in the jr -- several schools in the area have been closed. now listed on your television screen. as for the cause of the fire that's under investigation. but the focus right now trying to get a handle on this f
