"news4's" megan mcgrath with more. megan? >> reporter: initially the victim was taken to the hospital alive but in critical condition. but we learn a short time ago this man died from a gunshot wound to the chest. he's the 142nd murt victim in d.c. so far this year. you can see a live look here at the crime scene. still very active. we have a number of investigators here on the scene. they've been taking photographs. looking in the area right around the intersection of adams and downing street. that is where the shooting happened. it was about 2:30 this morning. that's when the shots rang out. when officers arrived on the scene, they found this man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chift. not a lot of information being released at this point. still no word on the potential mow tirch here. no lookout for suspects. but certainly police are looking for anyone who was in the area and may have witnessed this murder. they would like those witnesses to come forward, perhaps provide information to arrest the person responsible.
