be rushed to the hospital. nicole oliverio is on the scene. nicole, what can you tell us? >> reporter: kris, according to stoughton firefighters, they say that man was alert and conscious. to a boston hospital. this hour. the stoughton fire department makes a difficult but successful rescue after a concrete slab falls on a worker at the camp nellie industrial park. firefighters got the call rescuers say the man was working about eight feet off the ground on a motorized platform lift. he was working construction as crews remodeled the inside of this vacant warehouse. work crews were knocking down interior concrete walls when a chunk nearly four by eight feet fell. the slab weighed several hundred pounds and landed on top of the workers who was still on the elevated staging. firefighters rushed to extricate him. they managed to get him out safely and rescuers say the worker was conscious when he was med-flighted to beth israel deaconess hospital. no one actually leases any space inside that warehouse. that is vacant right now. the construction. and is not releeing the injur

where just three days ago it was actually in the 60s. i'm joined now by nicole oliverio in worcester, massachusetts. what are crews doing to prepare? >> definitely is. as you mentioned it was just five days ago people were wearing shorts and t-shirts on christmas eve. this is definitely sort of more of the winter feel that we're used to here in boston. take a look, you can see the roads, the plows have been out but it's sort of hard to keep up, and because the ground is so cold, it's definitely starting to create sort of that slush here on the roadways. and as you can see what's coming down, it's really neither snow nor sleet, it feels more like small little ice pellets. here's what it's doing on the ground to accumulate. you know, it looks nice, and you have sort of that fluffy layer there on top but right now we've only probably seen about a half an inch. but once you get closer to the bottom that's when you're seeing more of the slippery ice. it's definitely going to make, you know, a tough morning commute here. but again, to go from 60s, less than a week ago, and now to remember

worcester where we find 7's nicole oliverio. good morning, nicole. >> nicole: good morning. well, if you're watching and getting ready the head out on of snow. this isn't a major storm obviously. nothing compared to what we saw last year. however, it is enough, if you take a look at what is already coating the ground in worcester, there's about half an inch, close to an inch, but the problem is the roadways, while the plows are out, are still extremely slippery and it is definitely very slow going. so it's a good test to sort of ease us into winter officially, that warm christmas eve. and for commuters, the mbta has been making prep for the past several months to make sure that we don't see a repeat of what happened last winter. officials say they're doing what they can to make sure this crews have added a new anti-ice sprayer which coats the third rail with a solution. according to the "t," two trains on the red line will be equipped with sprayers and the sprayers will also be on the blue line train and orange line train. now, some of those tracks froze last winter after the storm p
