beginning with "today in the bay's" peggy bunker live in san bernardino. still no clear motive for this attack. >> reporter: that will certainly be something that police and investigators will be working on today. syed farook and his wife, tashfeen malik, were by all accounts a normal couple, many said they thought they were living the american dream. people who know them are in complete shock this morning, including the co-workers that farook worked with for five years at san bernardino county inspector. they knew him to be quiet and polite. obviously quite a different situation yesterday when the christmas holiday party was taking place here at the san bernardino inland regional center. that is where farook was reportedly participating in the party but disappeared right before a group photo. witnesses say there was some kind of argument with farook and shortly afterward gunfire erupted in the conference room. people say police at the party gave them information about the family home in redlands. that's where police encountered the couple leaving in the b

we start with "today in the bay"'s peggy bunker. this is a time for family members to heal, talking about their loved one? >> reporter: absolutely, kris. yesterday afternoon they released the name of all of the people that were killed at the inland regional center, known as the irc around here, while they were attending the holiday party. all of the losses here are tragic. as you start to learn the details about each of the victims, it becomes more tragic, if you learn about their loves, their lives, their families. one of those victims, his name is michael wetzel, a married father of six. his children ranges in age from a toddler to teenagers. their youngest child is together. michael's middle child renee said on facebook, "michael was my best friend and an incredible father and loved by all." an online blog set up by a blogging site called little mamas is out trying to raise money for the wetzel family. renee is a stay-at-home mom. so many families say they are going to be in dire circumstances, considering the loss of some bread

. >> "today in the bay's" peggy bunker joins us live from san bernadino this morning. still a very active scene behind you as investigators try to piece together why this happened. >> reporter: good morning, sam and laura. the situation here and the scene here certainly has not stopped overnight. so many unanswered questions. what we do know now is that this couple, a married couple, 28 and 27 years old, including farook, a man who worked at this center for five years, married with pa 6-month-old baby and reportedly was at the party before he left, then came back with assault rifles, military style clothing and assaulted all of these people. 14 people killed, 17 wounded at the inland regional center. right now sources are trying to just piece together exactly what happened and considering this couple had a 6-month-old baby that they left behind with the baby's grandmother. so many questions left unanswered here as the day gets under way. police say right now initially they thought there were three shooters. many witnesses had said they thought they saw three shooters.

she shares the story with peggy bunker at 6:00. >> new details tonight on a high-speed chase that left a motorcycle cop seriously hurt in dublin. the chase ended in a crash on dublin boulevard and arnoldroid. that's near the 580/680 interchange. robert is there live. this chase started mile said away in pleasanton. >> well, janelle, the scene here on dublin boulevard is finally getting back to normal after a hectic day that left many people here shaken. as you can see from pictures we took earlier, it was a very grisly sight. a dublin motorcycle officer was seriously hurt while trying to help the california highway patrol in a chase involving a driver and a stolen car. now, the crash culminated the chase that started on interstate 580 where the car was first spotted and round its way through the streets of pleasanton and into dublin. it was a hectic scene and at one point, the driver actually stopped to let out three passengers who fled into the neighborhood. the driver took off, then crashed into the motorcycle cop. >> so we don't know if it was intentional or unintentional, but the s

peggy bunker is off tonight. a quick flight ends in tragedy for an entire south bay family. tonight we have learned a gilroy couple and their three children were all killed when their plane crashed south of bakersfield yesterday. they took off from san jose yesterday afternoon. they were headed to the las vegas area. nbc bay area's marianne favro has been tracking developments all weekend. she joins us. i understand you spoke with a family member. >> reporter: yes. and the entire family is understandably devastated. i spoke with the brother of one of the victims. and he told me the couple was traveling with their three children, two girls and one boy, headed to a holiday party near las vegas. we now know jason thomas pride, his 41-year-old wife, olga price, their 9-year-old daughter olivia, 10-year-old daughter mary, and 14-year-old son john all died in the crash. the family took off yesterday afternoon from reid-hillview airport in san jose. they were flying in this pane headed to henderson, nevada to attend a holiday party. the faa says the plane disappeared from radar aro
