raleigh road shut down by a bad wreck is back hope. part of south saunders street was closed for several hours after a car smashed into a pole causing the pole and lines to come down in the road. no one was hurt. it was reopened about 2:00 this morning. barbara: durham police are investigating a shooting at a gas station at caraco station near hill sideside high. that is prompting members to come together for a candlelight vigil tonight. that is where caitlin knute is with more. caitlin: we had the shooting you mentioned that happened last night. that is on top of two phurtdz so far this year and 45 killings in durham last year. the numbers are adding up and people are not happy. that is why they will meet tonight to remember those police. police are mobilizing a specialations specialations operations unit to tackle the growing violence. >> we want these 19 team that have a propensity for this violence to know they can't just ride around or go somewhere and step out and shoot a house. reporter: some say they are taking matters into their own hands including paul scott who is movi

there will be school tomorrow, and jon camp joins us live from a high school in raleigh with an update. jon? jon: hey, well, i tell you, we have been waiting for a plow at sanderson high school for a very long time, and that just goes to show you how busy they are, and we are talking about the front. i want to show you something because that can show you what this means. it is still ice and snow pack. this is standard. this bank of trees out there, and you will see the rest of the parking lot which holds 850 cars has basically nothing in it. raleigh right now and around the triangle. most of the roads in raleigh are clear, but a few of the side roads still look like this, with snow and ice and slush covering it, and the same thing for schools and parking lots, like this one in sanderson, about a quarter of the parking lot covered with pretty hardpacked snow and ice. school districts are responsible for clearing their lots and sidewalks, and when we talk to the principal at one high school today about what they are doing to keep the school open -- >> all of the entryways will be cleared

during the morning hours making the rush-hour a potential real troublemaker from raleigh northward. you will see snow and freezing rain. as we head through the day, you will see a transition begin from snow to sleet and freezing rain. it will not be right at noon, but afternoon, we should be triangle and snow continuing around the virginia border. the question is, when do we turn over to plain old simple rain? this should happen with no problem by late afternoon but over raleigh, late afternoon, we will have plain old rain. that line may be over the triangle and a could stay there. it would make the forecast a nightmare, but it could play out where we would have more coming around in the evening. we could have ice accumulations mount up and cause more problems to the north and the west. it does begin to wind down for tomorrow night, but then we get wraparound moisture. we may have snow showers mainly near the virginia border. there could be light accumulation. snowfall totals, 1-3 inches. if you get down towards fayetteville about one inch. six and maybe as much as eight inches or 10 in
