a crash in iowa county killed a mother and her two year old this morning. the sheriff's office says 18-year-old bethany clark of belle plaine lost control of her car on highway 212 about five miles west of marengo. they say the road was frost covered when the accident happened about 7:15 this morning. clark and her two-year-old son, roran, were in the vehicle when it caught on fire. they died at the scene. the icy road conditions caused two crashes involving seven vehicles in cedar rapids. police say the first crash happened near the edgewood road southwest overpass over highway 30 about 5:45 a-m. and while police were responding, they crashed into a jeep. one of the officers had non life-threatening injuries. no one else was hurt. the crashes closed edgewood road in that area for three hours. lisbon police are searching for a man who broke into a local bar and may have burglarized some homes as well. police say the man broke into early in the morning on december 27th. this is surveillance video from that morning. police say he stole money and also damaged
