meteorologist david murphy is outside on the terrace with all the details from accuweather. >> reporter: it's certainly windy and cloudy on the terrace. take a look there are two systems we are dealing with, the first was a miss, a large pinwheeling area of low pressure it's dishing snow on long island and producing wind down the shore enough to cause a problem with coastal flooding later tonight and tomorrow morning. you see the additional precipitation with rain and snow into cincinnati and west of washington that will arrive later on this evening. coastal flood warnings in effect in atlantic county and points north, an advisory south along the delaware bay. that means there could moderate to minor flooding at times of high tide. there's a watch that extends past tomorrow morning's high tide. we have the winter storm watch which is posted in counties from about philadelphia delaware county and chester county and points south and that's because we are expecting the snow to arrive tomorrow. looks like 2 to 4 inches of snow. now, the first round of it could be here during the evening hou

meteorologist david murphy is tracking it all from the "action news" big board. >>> we had two storms we have one going up the coast. if this storm was closer to the coast, we could be dealing with a major storm snowstorm, but it's not. it's been primed to be well off the coast over the last five days and ended up acting like the models thought it would. we have another system coming in today and tomorrow night. it's a much-less organized system even tricky to call in terms of snowfall amounts and the timing when the snow comes in. getting back to the coastal flood warning that sarah and rick were talking about moments ago it is in atlantic county and north and we expect more flooding at times of high tides tonight. there's a watch up and down this area for tomorrow morning and we could be back to some moderate flooding in parts of the region tomorrow. the other issue, of course is the winter storm watch this kicks in later tonight and extends into tuesday night and counties we expect to get mainly hit by this would be from philadelphia delaware county, chester county and points south

david murphy is here now with a closer look at the changeover. it's gradual but coming on. >> reporter: we have light snow out there now, temperature as above freeze that is helping road conditions. stormtracker 6 live double scan right now shows you that we have some snow in the northern and western suburbs and again temperatures are still above the freezing mark. if we go in closer areas of snowfall highlighted in gray are not that intense and not enough to bring colder air to the surface to change the conditions on the surface. mainly wet roads under this, and when you get into one of these heavier cells, like we have moving into salem county and brighter shades of white that could stick here and there. and if you get underneath one of those heavier cells and one of those near downingtown and coatesville, you'll want to slow it down a bit and it looks like honey brook and western county is picking up some of that. we are trying to get this up into reading and now light snowflake there's. of course down south, it's a lot of rain right now. prob

let's go right to meteorologist, david murphy. the temperatures can't rise fast enough and karen rogers has what this all means for traffic. good morning. >> temperatures are rapid in there process of rising but that change happens kind of late in the game in a lot of neighborhoods so we're left with icy sidewalks, side streets and even patches of more significant roadways that are slick. one band of precipitation i who lighted in blue that has a chance of being freezing rain and it looks like it's about to push into berks county and the northwest corner of chester county. a winter weather advisory has been canceled across most region. it's still in effect in the poconos until 7 o'clock and a warning out west because of that freezing rain. but even in areas where you don't have an active advisory all that means is that the precipitation is over. you still have ice that's trying melt as we get those temperatures to rise and work on that ice that did form overnight. we're all the way up to 51 degrees in philadelphia. of course there

let's head on over to meteorologist, david murphy and to karen rogers to look at your weather and traffic. good morning. >> all right everyone we're already seeing the first up and down of rain this morning pushing up toward philadelphia and entering south philadelphia at this point. starting to push away from wilmington already and this is just one initial band that's going to pop through. after that we'll get into a generally drier pattern for several hours. maybe a couple of sprinkles behind this and then later on we start to see the heavier more widespread rain move in and that's this system coming in along with a cold front. ahead of this it will be mild but occasionally damp this morning and then steadier rain later this afternoon and tonight a flood watch is still in effect starting today at plan to extending until thursday afternoon. it looks like in areas where the snow pack hasn't melted we could get some poor drainage area flooding that could affect some roadways and smaller creeks and streams. mainly minor stuff but we want you to be very wary about driving through any areas t

. >>> let's turn to david murphy. he's got the latest in accuweather and karen rogers has what that's doing to the roads, good morning. >> reporter: storm tracker 6 live double scan is showing us the first light band of snow is pushing through delaware county and chester county and berks county, as well. south philadelphia beginning to see a little bit of this. not much impact from the first band. temperatures have been cold the last couple of days, it won't take much snow to put a slippery sheen down. it's later in the morning and the afternoon when we expect the pluck of the snow to come in. we have a winter weather advisory that extends until 10:00 p.m. up in lancaster and the poconos. we're not looking at a lot of snow, light accumulations, probably one to two inches in the immediate regions and changeover to rain in the afternoon. in these areas we could have travel difficulties in the afternoon and we with a lot for the changeover. the wide view shows you it is snow all the way down into virginia at this early h

with rick williams, sara bloomquist, and meteorologist, david murphy. >>> good afternoon sara is off and we begin with breaking news in montgomery county. we learn that a 12-year-old boy was killed in a house fire while trying to save his father. the flames broke out on 100 markly street in norristown. family members tell "action news" that the boy ran back into the burning home because he thought his father was still inside but the father had made it out and the child was sadly killed. vernon odom spoke with the family and people that witnessed the father and will have more in a live report at 12:30. >>> we are following breaking news from delaware county, one person died when a tree fell on to a home here into a bedroom where a man and woman were trapped. "action news" reporter, annie mccormick is live at the scene in broomall with the latest. >> reporter: and rick you can see behind me crews are still out here removing portions of that giant tree that left a lot of damage to the home, they fell on top of a couple while they were sleeping in bed killing the woman. this tree fell on

gray hall is live in montgomery but first lets check in with david murphy outside. david, the storms packed a powerful punch. >> reporter: they did. i want to take you back to yesterday at 5:00, it was still just pretty much rain and we saw the heavier cells highlighted in yellow gathering force and then 7:00 there was a really good thunderstorm plowing through areas of trenton up from south jersey, but look at the area to the west at 7:00 that was the heavy thunderstorm a possible tornado maker pushing in on lancaster and gap and the same line pushing through trees and wires through parts of the region from 9:00 until 11:00 and it was pushing away from us. and lots of damage, mount laurel wires and trees down and albertson a 63 miles per hour wind gust that is enough to cause damage and vineland and bridgeton, in new jersey trees and wires down there as well. and now we transition to mostly cloudy skies and could get a peek of sun at time and light green to the west we could see a spotty shower pop lieu. and lingering flooding too. most of this is moderate flooding
