kris sanchez monitoring the very latest as it it comes in this morning. what do you know so far, kris? >> this was a deadly attack and deadly air strike, laura. 41 people are dead according to the town council there. we'll show you the area where this happened. we're talking about the city of sabratha in libya. nbc news confirms it was a farm house about six miles outside that city that was hit. the "new york times" is reporting that this man was the target. who is a terrorist leader who at times he reports was linked to two major tourist attacks in tunet tunisia last year. 41 people were killed in the air strike and six wounded and they're citing the hospital number there's. the strike came at 3:30 in the morning there and the council also said that machine guns and rocket-propelled grenade launchers were found near the air strike sites. now, just tuesday "nightly news" reported that in regards to isis expansion into libya, president obama said we will continue to take actions where there is a clear target. in mind this seems to be one of those times.

"today in the bay" kris sanchez is live at the university. health and school officials taking immediate action as it is contagious. >> reporter: right. they're trying to figure out which students had contact with the two concerned cases because it is very contagious. not as contagious as a told cold but because it causes swelling around the brain and spinal cord it's a serious concern. we expect to learn more of the two cases. at this point we know that one student checked into the hospital on sunday, the other checked in yesterday. the university is tracking down the folks who had contact with them while planning two free vaccine clinics this week. the symptoms are similar to the flu, sudden fever, head ache, stiff neck and sometimes vomiting an confusion. but this can develop into septicemia which brings fatigue, rapid breathing and dpark purple or red rash. at this point there are only two confirmed cases but it's possible that people aren't showing symptoms yet because that can take three to five days or ten days at maximum. it's spread p

. >> kris sanchez joining us live from the scene with what police are revealing about the suspect. >> we know the suspect fled the scene after hitting the bicyclist but a description of the vehicle involved. it is a red, two-seater honda civic del sol. that car made for only about six years, so there aren't that many out there. if you see a red one, this is the kind of vehicle that san jose police are looking for that was involved in this deadly hit and run. we only know at this point that the victim was a man. police are not saying much more than that because it it is now a homicide investigation potentially. but we do know that the coroner is here and will identify the remains of that person later on today. the roadway is still closed because of the police action. we are talking about the northbound direction of winchester avenue. not too far from the border with campbell. so, if your commute takes you through this area, you might want to reroute. police are working to clear the scene as quickly as possible so that folks can get to their business, as usual. but, again, the most note

. >> and i'm kris sanchez. we begin with those new details on that part of the bay bridge. caltrans says damage to the yerba buena tunnel is worse than thought. bob redell is live in oakland. bob, the big concern is falling concrete as we've seen in weeks past. >> reporter: correct. caltrans just confirmed to us within the past 30 minutes that its agency did find 13 more problem spots on both sides of the walls in the yerba buena tunnel. these are concrete spots that indicated corrosion and needed to be replaced. now, this comes after a large 13 x 12 inch chunk of concrete fell from the wall and hit liz g gusten's car. the collision popped her tire and caused more than $3,000 worth of damage to her car. february 1st, caltran workers tapped the walls of the tunnel with a hammer to see if any more spots rang hollow. workers found 13 locations i mentioned that had been loosened from the rebar by moisture and rainwater and they range in size from a few inches to a few feet. all of those pieces have been removed. tomorrow caltrans will meet with the federal highway administratio
