southern maryland. so those winter weather advisories have been posted for northumberland, west um berland on off towards the east. that's where the higher accumulation of snowfall will be. this is in no way a big system for us but it will have moderate impacts to the early morning rush because it will be occurring during the morning rush. road temperatures should be high enough. leonardtown, montrose, calvert beach seeing light rain showers right now, but here is the system. it's pretty big and it will continue to track north and northeastward right up the coast overnight and for early tomorrow morning. with just enough cold air coming in your impacts between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. will be moderate. by the time we get to the latter part of the morning rush, 9:00 a.m. and to lunchtime, minimal impacts. rain showers moving back, snow showers for many and it's a weather alert day for early friday morning. amelia segal is back with what your neighborhood will see. we have the map for new a few minutes. >>> i'm wendy rieger at the live desk. we have learned in the past hour there are three

southern maryland, southern calvert, southern st. mary's, the eastern shore seems to be getting the worst of it. the more moderate snow there and the blue area, which was across southern maryland on the northern neck. now most of the blue is east of the bay pulling in toward delaware and north new york, where they are expecting 9 inches of snow for central and eastern long island, for us, the back edge of the snow, the light snow and the flurries is coming through areas generally along route 15. there hasn't been much going on at all. look at these temperatures. most of them in the mid 30s. on the eastern shore, i have seen snow coverage. that means the lesser traveled roads are covered. i've been checking out, a lot of the cameraings toward california, lexington park, so looks like any real accumulating snow is east of the bay. we do have some delays from anne arundel and king george and st. mary's. calvert closed for the day. this goes down to colonial beach and westmoreland as well. but we'll see sunshine building in as temperatures, which are on the 30s now, will climb into the

piling up in southern maryland. some places there still under a snow emergency. here is what the roads looked like as the storm team4 x 4 travels down route 245 in california, maryland, earlier today. not a lot of blacktop showing. our prince george's county bureau chief tracee wilkins has been traveling the southern part of the county checking on the conditions. southern maryland sometimes is spared these big snow totals. how are they doing now, tracee? >> reporter: yeah, no, this time they were not spared. we saw plenty of people getting out there, most of them enjoying all this. we have route 5 over my shoulders. it has improved a lot. they have been able to get out and get a lot of plowing done but it really meant they had to change their initial plan. there was enough snow in parts of southern maryland for snowboarding and snow blowing. >> i do my neighbors. they don't have blowers so i figure i'll do theirs as well. >> reporter: the snow accumulation changed up the plans for prince george's county road crews. >> we had planned to primarily have this as a salting event, but becaus
