eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live on the scene in noho. diana? >> reporter: good morning. the k-9s are looking for evidence and the victim, the man you were talking about is recovering in the hospital. he is listed in stable condition. a live look at the scene this hour. the bleecker street station is closed while police continue their investigation. this happened on the 6 train platform about 3:30 this morning. we learned that a passerby saw the man bleeding, the victim. they saw him bleeding and called 911 rendering aid until police arrived. there was a dispute or argument on the platform at the bleecker street station. the man was slashed in the deck and hand. he remains in table condition. no word on the suspect. police say the suspect fled the scene after the incident. this is the second slashing at last couple of months. in january an elderly woman was slashed on the d train while she was heading to work. it was during the morning her attacker also fled. police are interviewing the victim. he is in stable condition at bellevue. the six trai

. >> diana rocco just arrived on the scene. diana? >> reporter: ken and lori, good morning. a serious situation out here this morning. we are on long beach road here in oceanside where you can see firefighters are still working to get a handle on this fire. here is what we know right now. this started before 4:00 this morning in the convenience store and quickly spread through the apartment building. standing on the street watching firefighters fight this fire. they are trying to get back into their homes. right now it does not look like that is a possibility. the fire has literally tore through multiple believes on the block. the fire department has been at this about two hours now. they are still working to get a handle on it. flames ripped through the building very quickly and spread to several of the stores next door. we are on the 3,000 block of long beach road here in oceanside where the fire department is still hard at work this morning. we have dozens of firefighters working on this as well as residents stand willing in the -- standing in the parking lot looking at w

diana rocco is live on the scene in medford with the latest. diana. >> reporter: lori, good morning. several families are left you can see what is left of their condo building after a fast-moving fire overnight. the fire department has been called back here to extinguish hot spots even though the fire is now, for the most part, out. fire marshals and fire arson investigators have been called to the scene to see how this started. it happened before midnight last night. medford fire department was called to the blue ridge condo complex, unit 398. units were met with heavy fire that spread to four units and made its way through the roof. flames were dozens of feet high. you can see how hot it got and how high it was. everyone was successfully evacuated by police and the arriving firefighters. multiple fire departments were called in. it took nearly two hours to put out the fire. police and suv if he can fire were called to the scene to several families are trying to pick up the pieces as investigators try to determine how this started. diana rocco

we have diana rocco out this morning. she has seen the winds and also some damage. it looks like they may have had a strong thunderstorm come through, maybe even raised their eyebrows to think could this be a tornado. we don't have that officially, of course. >> reporter: well, the word has been tossed around. of course, nothing official yet, but they are feeling the effects of this wild weather that we saw overnight. in fact, it's still very windy out here this morning. take a look at the yard behind me. we are on railroad avenue in rareton new jersey where you can see the fence panels are missing here, and neighbors reporting shingles blown off the house, yard furniture tossed around. take a look at the house next door. this is what it looks like just next door from where i am standing. the windows were actually blown off this house overnight. the shingles were taken off. the neighbor tells me that his upstairs bedroom and high winds actually blew the windows out, took the tv right out of the room. he says he had to open the door because it was getting so loud. he

diana rocco is live on the scene. diana? >> reporter: good morning lori. the families were forced from their home overnight. but the big question for police driver doing when they lost control and slammed into this storefront? this building has been deemed structurally unsound. you can see the mess left behind. police were able to successfully remove the car from the building, but now the building inspectors are not sure about the soundness of the building, and there are about four apartments upstairs. all of those families were forced to evacuate. that is 18 people and six children overnight. this happened about 10:15. there is no word on what caused the driver to lose control this morning, they were not murder, but the they were not hurt but the families were forced to gather their children and wait on the street until the red cross could find a place for them. crews will start cleaning this up. this is a tax service and the building will need to be boarded. families will be able to return home. diana rocco channel 7 eyewitness news. >>> diana thank you.

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco live in east new york to see. diana. >>reporter: ken, good morning. parents in this east new york neighborhood do not feel their children are safe until this predator is caught. that little girl was just walking to school yesterday morning when he exposed himself and grabbed her. that's when she put up the fight of her life. this is surveillance video released by police of the man believed to be in his 20s. you can see him walking down the street moments before the attack. this all happened just after walking to school with her 12- year-old brother on the corner of pitkin avenue and elton street. it was a relatively busy time of the morning in this neighborhood and that's when the man approached them. he then exposed himself, grabbed the little girl and would not let her go. that's when witnesses say she started screaming and fought back. >> saying get off me, get off me. he was holding her and she was kicking and scratching. or she was -- the baby was -- she was having like an epileptic fit. she was very, very scared. >

diana rocco is live in medford. diana? >> reporter: ken and lori, more than a dozen people are homeless this morning. with the daylight, you can see how bad the damage is here. we spoke to people who were allowed back in their homes to grab a few of their belongings. take a look at how intense this was. before they knew it the entire building was engulfed. they only had time to grab their pets and leave before the building was engulfed in flames. this is the blue ridge condominium. this is what it looked like at the height of the fire. investigators say it started on the second floor in one of the units and quickly jumped to another building. when the fire department arrived, the flames were shooting through the roof. it took a few minutes to spread to the building next door. mutual aid was called from five other departments. at one point the flames were shooting dozens of feet high. six units were damaged this morning. some were allowed to go back in and collect belongings. for most it was a total loss. >> the dog was goi

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live in the park with the details. diana. >>reporter: ken and lori, good morning. that all happened not too far from here, and this morning police are looking for a man believed to be that boy's father. he's described as about 35-year- olds with dark hair, clean shaven, last seen wearing a dark colored jacket, possibly a black jacket with a fur hood and blue jeans. the 11-year-old boy was wearing a lightweight red or orange jacket. now, police spent the better part of the night searching central park after a tourist walking through the park before midnight says he was approached by the man and an 11-year-old boy. this happened near bow bridge and west 74th street. the man who was believed to be the boy's father offered sex with the boy for $300. the tourist, a 50-year-old man from california quickly declined, left the park and called 911. but police did spend most of the night searching this park. that search turned up empty this morning. they will now be reviewing area surveillance cameras, hoping we're live in central park,

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live now in the park for us. diana. >>reporter: lori and ken, good morning. this all happened on a walking trail not too far from here. a search of the park turned up empty overnight, but police are taking this very seriously this morning. police searched central park for the better part of the night last night after just before midnight a 50-year-old man from california said he was on a walking trail near bow bridge which is near west 74th street. he says a man came up to him with the 11-year-old an asked him if he wanted -- and asked with the boy for $300. it appears he was the boy's father. the tourist immediately said no and went back to his room and called 911, but he did give a description of the man to police. they are now looking for a man described as dark haired, about 35 years old, wearing a black jacket with a fur hood and blue jeans. the child was wearing a red and orange lightweight jacket. again, a search of the park overnight did not turn up the boy or this man that police are looking for. they are askin

diana rocco live in brooklyn with the story. diana? >> reporter: ken good morning. police are searching for that predator this morning after he followed a 23-year-old jogger into this park with a knife. but this is what he looks like. police have just released a new sketch of the man and new video. he was caught on surveillance in nearby buildings. he is first seen walking then jogging down prospect park west by garfield place, around the time of the attack. police were here for the better part of the afternoon yesterday investigating. just after 5:00, the woman was jogging when the man came up behind her with a knife. she was able to fight him off. runners say it is usually the same group of people running and they see a lot of police in the park, even at early hours. >> usually a lot of runners and it is kind of the same group of people we see each other every morning. >> i feel safe because i see people frequently so you kind of look out for each other and >> reporter: the female victim was taken to the hospital with a cut to her finger. she got six stitches for

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco live in midtown with the story. diana, good morning. >>reporter: ken, good morning. donald trump celebrated here at trump tower for about two hours last night, and now for him it is on to indiana. he swept every county in the state with the exception of his own here in manhattan. that went to john kasich who won by about 900 votes. but even still, trump needed to win his home state and win big, and that he did, sweeping all of new york -- nearly all, rather, of new york's delegates. now looking ahead to next week's primaries. at his victory party last night here at trump tower, trump called on his opponents to bow out of the race, saying it's now nearly mathematically impossible for them to win. the victory has put him that much closer to clinching the the convention, and next week's primaries in connecticut, rhode island, pennsylvania, maryland and delaware, states that need jobs and economic help, areas where trump says he is strong and it will only solidify his lead. >> we're really, really rocking. we expect we're going to have an a

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live at the scene. diana? >> reporter: ken and lori, good morning. it's a tough morning for those families left homeless. those firefighters are recovering. we just learned that the 911 call came from the church last night when people inside smelled smoke. this is what is left of the five buildings on this block. three of them have been completely destroyed reduced to a pile of rubble. two others next to at this time badly damaged. more than 200 firefighters responded to the fast-moving fire that struck six alarms before they could knock it down. the flames got so intense that multiple structures started collapsing on firefighters. investigators believe it one of the buildings on the 270 block of arlington around 36:30 and quickly spread to the homes next door. fire crews had quite the challenge to keep it from spreading. 13 people were left homeless. there were injuries. everyone got out in time. >> hard to watch but the family is okay. that's what is important. >> everybody is fine. that's what i cared about

diana rocco is live in east new york. >> reporter: the victim's his son is going to be okay. after taking that bull that bullet, he was able to chase the robbers and see which way they went. it happened before closing last night. surveillance video shows the entire thing, you can see the store owner struggling with one of the robber whose has a gun pointed in his face. this happened after 11 inside the grocery store on new lots avenue. one man empties the drawer and the other one keeps the gun on the owner. the owner puts up a struggle and the shots were fired. the robbers got away with cash and cigarettes. the 35 year old store owner was hit in the happened and the hip and still able -- hand and the hip and able to run out of the store after the suspects that fled on foot and got in to a black honda driving away. the owner's father says he was shots. >> we heard the shots. i was worried about my son. my other son, he was across the street, him and his friend. they wanted to chase them. >> reporter: the owner's father said he told his son, next time give him the money, it was

diana rocco has more. this morning police are searching for a dark-colored honda or toyota. describing it as some type of sedan. the 45-year-old man, the victim here, was crossing the street in front of the boys and girls club just before 11:00 last night when he was struck by the driver who never stopped. the 911 call came in shortly after 11:00 last night. it happened here at the corner of 21st street and 30th road. police say the man was crossing when a dark-colored toyota or honda hit him and left the scene. the impact left the victim's shoes and pieces of the car in the intersection. the man was pronounced dead at elmhurst hospital a short time later. police are hopeful that pieces of the car left behind will lead them to their hit and run driver but people in this area say this is a dangerous intersection, it is not well- lit and drivers often speed here. >> you have kids coming out of the community center and you or go down there and cross the street. meanwhile, people have been trying to get a traffic light over here, but it hasn't happened. >> reporter: that 45-year

diana rocco, channel 7 eyewitness news. >> now to problems at the polls. some voters in brooklyn say when they arrived to vote the doors were locked and they were turned away. stacy sager is in the bedford stuyvesant section with that part of our coverage. >> reporter: the workers tell us they showed up but they didn't have the tools to get the job done right away. we understand there were problems at several locations in brooklyn this morning. problems at ps 137, but also the workers tell us they had no keys to the voting machines, no ballots, and voting was delayed nearly two hours as a result. the problems were even worse elsewhere in brooklyn at the atlanta terminal community center. workers had no keys to the building. no keys to the machines there. voting was delayed for several hours. that prompted a visit from the executive director of the board of elections. >> that's absolutely unacceptable. when you consider the fact that we have over 1,200 poll sites through the city and they rely on human beings to be present to open them, you are going to hav

diana rocco is in the bronx with the latest. we are on the corner of home street and southern boulevard. you can see the street closed off and there are a number of emergency service crews on the scene there, focusing their attention on the building down the block there. 1232 southern boulevard. it is a charter school that is under construction. here is what we know about at 6:30 this morning. an engineer found the second floor structure of the building was unstable. we have news chopper over the scene there this morning. three apartment buildings on southern boulevard and six more on hoe avenue had to be evacuated. residents were evacuated until they can determine the structure is stable. this is causing a traffic back- up in the area because it closed portions of southern boulevard and there are also suspended service on the 2 and 5 trains this morning. service is suspended from 180 street all the way down to that is the latest from the longwood section of the bronx this morning. i'm diana rocco channel 7 eyewitness news. >>>

diana rocco is live. >> reporter: just in the last few moments i have been told by the fire department that the fire has now been contained. the flames were so intense at one point they had to back everybody out of the building and fight the fire from overhead. it started after 11:00 last in brooklyn, this is what it looked like after fire crews arrived. video obtained by eye witness news, you can see the billowing flames coming from the roof, the fire quickly started 5- alarms forcing the firefighters out of the building, they had to fight the fire from above and took 250 firefighters several hours to gain control and it presented a challenge to save the adjoining buildings which included daycare and a church. it appears the fire started in a warehouse that house as bakery and a catering company. the fire department was able to save the adjoining buildings. parishioners were outside all night waiting to see if the church could be saved and they were able to save some of their more valuable things inside, the pastor is hoping the damage is minimal. >> water damage, a lot of smoke and t

eyewitness news reporter diana rocco is live now in midtown. >> reporter: lori, good morning, team owners will meet here later today for their annual board of governors meeting. topping the agenda this year is north carolina's bathroom law has -- this is just the latest pushback over north carolina's so-called bathroom law. charlotte was originally the winning bid city for 2017. this year's game was in toronto and nba all-star weekend filled with fun and fans. and big moneymakers for the host city. now new jersey senator booker along with the group of bipartisan lawmakers is calling on the league the move all of that -- to move all of that out of north carolina. not just nba stars that travel for the game. players bring families and a- listers come out for the celebrity games. the backlash is in response to the state's recently passed anti-lgbt law which prohibits transgender people from using public bathrooms in schools and government facilities that don't match the gender on their birth certificate. and nba commissioner adam silver called the law deeply concerning and this would not be

diana rocco is live. took several hours but does appear that firefighters have a handle on this. they continue to douse these flames from up above. they are just putting out hot spots. the fire did reach 5 alarms overnight. this is after crews arrived, this is a warehouse on the 600 block of parkside avenue that house as bakery and catering company. firefighters had to back out of the building because the flames were too intense. they started fighting them from overhead. this broke out after 11:00. it was difficult to fight because of the several adjoining buildings that spaned the block including a church and a daycare. the redemptive center was next door. both saved but some smoke and water damage did occur as far as the church is concerned. the fire department is working on a cause this morning, they have ruled out gas. >> because the fire was so involved gas, when we shut the gas mains down, there was no change in conditions. that led us to believe it probably, it probably wasn't gas fed. >> reporter: several streets are still closed in the area this morning as firefighters c

diana rocco is live. >> reporter: good morning, police are looking for two men this morning, they are both described as 5'9", in their 20s, seen running from the scene here after shots were fired inside a second floor apartment off of rutgers newark campus, a rutgers student was shot and killed, another man is in critical condition. this happened before 10:00, newark police and rutgers police were called here, the shots were fired inside 28 central avenue, just upstairs from a the student died at university hospital. a second man not affiliated with the university was found outside on the street and in morning, both of the victims are in their 20s, this investigation continues, police are now issuing a warning to the rutgers students on campus, letting them know what was happening but do not believe any of them to be in danger this morning. three people were taken in to custodies they are now being questioned. that's is latest from newark. >>> a brooklyn man is facing a long list of charges after a gun and drug bust. joseph had five guns inside his crown heights home. the weapons disc

diana rocco is live at the vane with latest -- scene with latest information! den, good morning, this fire has closed down several roads in the area. >> reporter: and given firefighters quite a challenge this morning. he's a live look at ground video just live now. you can see the fire is now out. firefighters were able to knock that down just a few minutes ago. the fire originally started about 8:00 last night in these row of homes here. it reached three alarms before they were able to put it out. then this morning, at 6:00, you can see the flames billowing from the roof. the fire reignited. it did give firefighters quite a challenge. they rushed into the building they had to back out. here's what the fire chief said just a few moments ago. >> there was a localized collapse and one firefighter was injured and he was taken to the local hospital and he's being treated and his injuries are undetermined at this time. >> reporter: so the fire reignited on the second and third floor of the middle structures here. ten people were displace last night. that struck two
