over in massachusetts, much of southern new hampshire as well. we have got the back end of this passing through boston, and we still have it traveling over southeastern massachusetts. the best bet for heavier showers and perhaps some gusty winds will be right there. that's what i will be watching there for the neck couple of hours. futurecast there by 5 a.m. does show southeastern mass. really the pot to watch. same deal here at 6:00 this morning. by 8 a.m., that's it. we have some lingering clouds the south shore. couple of showers hanging tight across the cape and island by 10 a.m. it is all over. we have these gusty winds coming in from the northwest here through the afternoon, but it bumps out the clouds in favor of sunshine, ends up being completely sunny here this afternoon. so even though right now in boston we have got the rain. we have got visibility reduced. we have also got some gusty wind. things just completely turn around. and by 6 a.m., the last of the showers over massachusetts and over to the cape. lower 70s. 10 a.m., 75 degrees.

it looks like it will be mostly western massachusetts. where you can see here, it's less of a problem. still a problem but less of a problem than here in eastern massachusetts. this is extreme drought and there's still another category to go. exceptional drought. so as dry as we've been, it can get even worse. we don't want to get there. bu normal so far for the year in boston and the boston area. that's crazy stuff and that's why it's so dry and why your lawn looks like it does out there. there are sunny skies around eastern massachusetts now. some rain we're talking about is some showers and thunderstorms popping up back here. we thought they would be in western new england. these are the berkshires and vermont, some thunderstorm activity here. not having an easy time of it and there's not much behind it. it will be moving into the area. that's not coming to the rescue. you hate to root for a tropical storm but that's the kind of moisture we need to break the drought conditions. we will talk about the potential for rain early next week
