i got to watch this from the nbc newsroom not far away from the area where he went for the gold medal. we watched him at the gate. he said he smiled at the gate then went for broke. at one point he looked behind and out of nowhere he pushed the power and crossed the finish that you won and you're a champion. the best moments are the ones you share with the people. that was to me more special that crossing the actual finish line. my dad met us at the dance. he kept saying you did it, you did it, you did it. we wanted to hug, but there was a fence. we were just kind of holding special moment. >> reporter: it was a special moment indeed. in fact that total when i saw connor run up that hill and reach through with his fingertips and put his forehead to his dad's forehead there were no dry eyes in the field. and tomorrow, some video of this beautiful young lady. saturday will be amazing. competing in the women's high jump final. the event will be streamed and it will be shown on news 3 after our primetime coverage. here is her message back to people back home. >> i just want to thank every
