joining us on this special edition of nbc bay are news. i )m terry mcswne >>> good evening, and thanks for joining us on this special edition of nbc bay area news. developing story right now out of oregon. that's where a plane crashed, killing two people. we have learned that plane took off from here in the bay area. the crash happened near madras airport east of salem, it's a community of maybe 6,000 or perhaps 200,000 are gathering to watch the upcoming eclipse. nbc bay area's reporter is in san carlos where that plane took off, sergio. >> reporter: kerry, i spoke briefly with a woman who works at one of the flight-planning companies here at the airport and she tells me that is a plane housed here at the san carlos airport. he described it as a wheeler express which is an experimental plane basically it's the kind of plane that you have to assemble once you receive the part. it went down about a mile short of the airport. >> towards the trussle, large plume of black smoke. >> all units, reports of an airplane crash. willow creek canyon.
