. let's go to phil keating in florida. a lot of anxious people. >> yes, there is, as far north as gainesville, tampa, orlando, people have been raiding water plies at walmarts and costcos and every gas station around the state, this is what you see. if you like to sit in lines to fill up your tank, come to florida right now, which currently is sunny florida but not for long. here's a gas station that still has fuel. we have come across multiple gas stations today and yesterday that had run out of fuel. the governor is insisting fuel trucks are still coming, resupplying, redelivering. for everybody that needs gasoline, whether they expect power to do out for three to five days when no gas stations would be open or whether they're planning on driving all the way out of the state, they need their fuel. because of the track as rick showed going all the way up the state, if you're going to evacuate, you need to fly out of the state, if you can still get a flight. more to that in a second. the florida keys started evacuations last night. us a residents in the keys need to be out by 7:00

. senior meteorologist janice dean has the latest track on the storm, phil keating is in miami beach, but we begin with adam houseley in key largo, florida, which is already seeing irma's winds. adam? >> reporter: yeah, mike. we're seeing the wind, we're seeing some of the storm surge, we're also feeling the rain come down. the winds were sustained about an hour ago at 25 miles an hour according to my wind meter, now they're about 35, gusting over 50. if you look to my right here, we're going to come across, this is one of the many marinas here in key largo. the water's bashing up over some of the docks, several are underwater. if you look over or there, there's a houseboat that was tied up with another boat on the other side trying to protect each other, they've already broken loose and are now up against the docks. one of the lines is gone, they've only got one line left. i don't give them much more as wind picks up. across here you can hear popping, too, of some of the overhangs as they rip loose and some of the sails as they come loose from the sailboats. obviously, the sails were put

miami beach, phil, it looks like you've already gotten some wins there. >> we do have some breezes which is pretty typical on the beach itself but all day long today as we move forward toward the weekend, the winds are supposed to strengthen. 650,000 residents of miami-dade county currently under a mandatory evacuation, that's the largest evacuation of people out of miami-dade county in history. if this storm is as bad as the forecast is predicting, five to 10 feet, that puts me underwater and at least half of this lifeguard stand under water. want to see how many people are taking advantage of the evacuation order? this is south beach. friday morning, this place would have tons of people looking all the way around, you can pan the entire beach pier this is on the empty speeches i've ever seen here in south beach. driving down here from my house 10 miles north today, no traffic on the road, virtually 20% of the normal drive time just to get here. i did actually fill up with gas, which was unbelievable because so many people have already left. south beach itself, super popular touri

keating in fort lauderdale, hollywood international airport, the latest from there. hey, phil. >> getting out of town on an airplane one of the bigger challenges going on not only here in fort lauderdale-hollywood but miami as well. float that many seats left. those you can find are double and triple the price. a lot of flights tansled, 2,000 by american airlines, sunday, multiple airports, 25 food. to allow the employees to get home, take care of the families and homes. in order for the flights, certainly didn't have enough crews to fly them. we ran into several families departing today, not for vacation but to evacuate a monster of a threat hurricane irma, threatening to slam south florida as a cat 4 or 5 some time saturday. for those still to fly tonight or tomorrow, all are being urged not to drive themselves but get dropped off. >> dropped off at the airport. we won't want people to come here, panic, not find a parking spot, miss their flight that, may be their only opportunity. a lot of the irrelevant craft are flying out at full capacity. >> northbound traffic on the fl

headed in the general direction of florida. phil keating is live in west miami-dade county. >> all of these drivers you see heading down the road in southwest miami, they are heading home. gas stations are running out of fuel consistently all throughout south and central florida. that's exactly what happened in this gas station 20 minutes ago. we had two humongous lines of cars. people waiting in their car for a full hour. you do all that and then you get close and suddenly the cones go up, the yellow tape. those people are desperately driving around town trying to find another gas station that still has fuel. free filling these gas stations, these gas pumps, has been a challenge. another challenge has been for miami beach residents who are still there. it's a very low-lying beach. it's notorious for flooding even in just a full moon rain storm. they have been sandbagging trying to plan for a potential catastrophic flooding. you want to go buy something, like a case of water or pet food, batteries for your flashlight, good luck. stocks are down, grocery stores, costco, walmart. we saw

in the caribbean. now the numbers killing at least 13 people. phil keating's may beach >> two new counties issuing mandatory evacuations effective 3:00 p.m. tomorrow. the barrier islands of palm beach, and that includes president trump's marl lago estate. this is one of the hottest commodities on the beach today, sand pile so people can come here grab sand, shovel it in the bag and taken back to their houses and apartments and block the doors, hoping that will protect their interiors. the main problem right now is that site has run out of sandbags. people are showing up with nothing to do in they're leaving disappointed, but it's hard to get supplies in here this late in the game and there's the growing sense that it is late in the game and there is concern that it's bigger than it was yesterday. someone we met earlier today, he found the best use for his baby stroller was to halt sandbag after sandbag after sandbag out to his car in for his fiancee, she says her anxiety is surging. >> it's a little overwhelming as a parent. i don't care what happens to me, i care more about her.
