how big a hurdle is steve bannon's support for kelly ward in your decision making process? how much does that worry you? >> it's -- any opposition that you have, especially with somebody that has influence, it's a hurdle. you look at it. one of the things you can do and our primaries are very late in arizona. so it gives you an idea, or gives you a time to come out with your ideas, your vision with how you'll mcommunicate wih the base, any candidate that comes out and you can win people like steve bannon over. the one thing i can say about steve bannon is -- >> you think he'd switch allegiances? >> i would suggest that kelly ward, when she has real opposition, somebody that's working hard, that has a command of the issues, that knows the state intimately, that kelly will have a hard time even surviving as a primary candidate. that doesn't mean me necessarily but somebody that's a legitimate, viable candidate that's way beyond just the one-like talking points. somebody interested in winning for the people of arizona and furthering the president's agenda. she's going to have

in fact kelly ward, there have been polls showing double digits up on flake. if he was going to beat someone like kelly ward, he would have to move a lot to the trump side just to have a prayer in the republican primary. i said a double bind. look at this. let's say he went and won the republican primary. look what he's up against in the general election. this is his approval rating with all voters in arizona. republican, democrat, it's basically no better. 30% approval rating. this is the least popular republican up for re-election in his state. republicans looked at them and said, you know what, you're not friendly enough to donald trump. democrats looked at him, independents looked at him and said you know what, you're too friendly to donald trump. so if you're flake ask you move closer to trump in that primary, it was probably going to go down. again i said bannon can't claim credit for this. this was a long time in the making. the question as bannon, that party revs up to go after other republican incumbents, can they put those incombpts in positions that
