california workers could go on strike today. jessica flores joins us live from uc berkeley to explain what the labor dispute is all about. >> reporter: michelle, a total of about 50,000 uc workers across the state plan to go on strike today and a couple dozen are already here at uc berkeley are here ready to go on strike. they're walking off the job over what they say are pay disparates. now contract negotiations have stalled with the largest uc employee union. that's the american federation of state and county and municipal employees. that represents service workers and other workers will also be on sympathy strike, in total about 50,000 uc workers across ten campuses will be on strike over incoming quality and what they say is widening racial and gender disparities. 24,000 of those are patient care and service workers, security guards, cussed to yans, gardens gardensers -- cussed to yans custodians. the uc system gave workers a 2% raise but the union says it's not enough. >> life is too expensive, you know, so we want to get more salary, you know, to support our families. >>
