i am london breed, mayor of san francisco. i am excited about this incredible opportunity to open up a 200 bed navigation center in san francisco. we all know what the statistics say. we have a real problem around homelessness, and the fact is last year we helped 2146 people exit homelessness. since we have opened navigation centers in san francisco, they have helped over 5,000 people. despite what we know the challenges are, the fact is i am grateful and proud of so many of the incredible people behind me today. the people who workday in and day out to help make these navigation centers a reality, but more importantly to help the people that we know are struggling on the streets exit homelessness. we have seven navigation centers in san francisco with a few more on the way. i am really excited what we are going to be doing. at the end of the day, let's be chair clear. it -- clear. it is that we need permanent housing for people who are exiting homelessness. today we are well on our way to meeting the goal that i set of 1,000

character that makes san francisco, san francisco. we don't want to be manhattan. well, i don't want it to be manhattan. or wherever places people come from. they think that's a better choice. so again, i don't want to go on and on. but basically, we'd like to see growth. we like to see area plans be accepted. the fact that none of us on the west side have been able to do area plans is mainly because we haven't had any resources. all the resources in the city in the last few decades -- forever -- decades, have been concentrated in this area for good reasons, but still, you have to open up the purses to make sure we have resources that we can actually plan for these things on the west side. i'm glad we're starting a process of supervisor fewer and supervisor mar, we're looking at those issues. and so given all that, you know, i would be supportive of senator wiener's bill if he could make some of these amendments that gives us opportunity to make a choices, to figure out how to increase the housing stock for our areas. i don't see anyb

for san francisco. in san francisco, vaping is prohibited in enclosed common areas like business areas and schools, like parks, farmer markets and public transportation. one place people in san francisco may be exposed to second-hand smoke is in their own own. home. we spend a majority of o time in her homeses. half of san francisco lives in a multiunit housing and that's a building with two more units. so a duplex, a condo building, public housing and apartment buildings. people of colour, young adults, low-income and smokers are more likely to live in these multiunit housing. second-hand smoke, it can easily seep through, like, a window or crack and vents. third-hand smoke is a concern because smoke and vape can stick to the furniture and the carpet and continually expose the smoker or nonsmoker alike. opening windows, air purifiers and fans, that doesn't completely eliminate second-hand smoke harm. a study by ucsf researchers found san francisco residents who live in high density multiunit housing, t

i was born in san diego and adopted out to san francisco when i was about 17 years old. i bounced around a little bit here in high school, but i've always been here in the bay. we are an inclusive preschool, which means that we cater to emp. we don't turn anyone away. we take every child regardless of race, creed, religious or ability. the most common thing i hear in my adult life is oh, you don't seem like you have autism. you seem so normal. yeah. that's 26 years of really, really, really hard work and i think thises that i still do. i was one of the first open adoptions for an lgbt couple. they split up when i was about four. one of them is partnered, and one of them is not, and then my biological mother, who is also a lesbian. very queer family. growing up in the 90's with a queer family was odd, i had the bubble to protect me, and here, i felt safe. i was bullied relatively infrequently. but i never really felt isolated or alone. i have known for virtually my entire life i was not suspended, but kindly asked to not ever bring it up again in first grade, my desire to

i'm a san francisco native. i'm a former member of the board of mental health seat number 12 i held for six years, i termed out after six years. i am here to speak for new relief for the veterans that are in here. i'm a veteran along with a lot of my other veterans who are here along with me. people that i live with. we all go to new relief and we have been going to new relief from the beginning. i have came from living in the streets to living in tenderloin to getting a suitable housing with my other veterans. i live in the veterans commons and it's a very nice place. and through new relief, i was able to rise up and come from these depths of being homeless and going and living in tenderloin and rat-infested hotels to living decent and through new relief, i was able to get help with my mental illness through acupuncture and they have different types of therapies that they do there and it's been a lifesaver for me and i know a lot of other veterans here in have the same thing to say. please, please, help new rel
