arlington national has told them no. for nearly a quarter century, eastern memorials has been making headstones for military families. this is the family's first look at the headstone. >> we want it so bad and we want it right and we have someone telling you, no, you can't do that. reporter: one of the owners of eastern memorials. cycling is popular in arlington. everywhere you go you find bikes locked up but not all likes are created equal. this is a strong kryptonite lock but down the road you see a wire lock. it can be cut with bolt cutters quickly. a lot of riders are victimized by the sophisticated criminals. arlington police say they have seen increase in the bike thefts from this year to last year and every year the numbers increase in the summertime. cyclists reported to abc7 news that in the past several weeks four high-end bikes, some worth $2,000 to $3,000 have been stolen from parking garages in rosslyn. bike thieves are many part of the organized groups that communicate online target arlington because it's considered affluent area sometimes he says the bike owners are too careless. >> we see too often people locking up quality bikes with a simple cable lock. they don't understand the sophistication they have gotten to. >> some of these are $4,000 to $5,000 or $6,000. coming up at 5:00, we have more on the thefts that are happening

jonathan: a man is behind bars in arlington, accused of living up in the church attic. police say this guy had been living there for three years unnoticed. john gonzalez is in arlington with a bizarre details, including how this famous finally caught. reporter: we've all heard of squatters living illegally. this guy apparently was living inside the attic here at saint chance catholic church in arlington virginia for three years. no one noticed him. william barker has been arrested and charged with unlawful entry. he confessed he would wait for the right time when all was quiet and then use a ladder to climb up. maintenance workers this week found him. they say they heard noises above the kitchen. in the attic police found a large water cooler, food, a guitar, and clothing hanging from the rafters. he would actually attended some of the services here and then wait until everyone was gone. some of the parishioners we've been talking to say they hope you can find some real help. >> i hope there is a compassionate way to deal with him. >> three years? does that surprise you

we spoke with mondello earlier at the home in south arlington. the computer technician came to the home to fix the computer on monday but made it worse so she and her husband asked him to leave. the technician called police saying that joseph seen here would not let the man leave until the computers was fixed. police saying he had a gun and threatened to kill the technician. the wife thinks he fabricated the whole story because he was insulted after being asked to leave. a search of the home turned up a toy gun that was not used in any way in the incident. >> a state of shock. someone could make that up. >> there are reports that a life was threatened. we use our resources to enter to take someone in custody. >> coming up in an hour we'll hear more, a tierful and a strong words from them and the strong words that allegedly joseph mondello said to the computer technician. more on the story at 5:30. until then live in arlington, jeff goldberg, abc7 news. jonathan: strange one. thanks. well, cooler than last week but still a pretty warm way to end t
