brad: so the news has to do with the death of officer colson. we were the first to report very early on that police believed this was a case of friendly fire. that is that one officer's bullet killed another in the middle of the shoot-out. well, what was revealed today is that police are now admitting that the officer who fired did intentionally fire at the other officer. but it was because he at that time perceived a threat. police chief hank stawinski describing a chaotic situation. with a man they allege was michael ford, stand until front of the district iii station sunday afternoon at 4:30 firing 20 gunshots at officers, passing cars and ambulance. into the district iii station. in the shoot-out, an officer managed to bring down michael ford with two shots. but another officer saw officer colson arrive on scene in plain clothes with a gun and fired at him as well. >> i do not believe a police officer intentionally fired at another police officer. i believe a police officer fired at an armed individual who they perceived to be a threat to th

undercover officer colson was shot and killed during the exchange of gunfire by a fellow police officer. the police chief said he was mistaken for the gunman in the confusion. ford's two brothers elijah and malik were held without bond for helping their brother to pull off the shooting. elijah ford recorded a video will which his brother michael mand out the planned shooting. then malik drove michael to the police station. when he started walking to the wrong building, the brothers directed him back to the police station. police say elijah then videoed his brother on his sfen as he unloaded round after round on police. >> i was surprised because he's not that type of person. >> reporter: 18-year-old elijah ford is a student at bowie high school. his classmates sa shocked to hear he was involved in this senseless crime. >> there's no way he could have done that but then when i heard he was like one of the ones that kind of like recorded it, i was thinking like, oh, he probably could have stopped it, something. >> reporter: bowie high's principal sent a letter to parents yesterday saying

undercover cop and four-year officer jacai colson was shot and killed. sources close to the investigation say he was accidentally shot by one of his fellow officers. sources say the suspected gunman is michael ford and according to police, he was attempting suicide by cop, which is why he chose to open fire on the police station unprovoked. his two brothers were reportedly with him at the time. at least one videotaped the shooting according to sources. ford was shot and injured but is expected to survive. his two brothers were picked up later, one at a nearby popeyes just minutes after the shooting. today people brought flowers to the scene of the crime in honor of colson. colson, who was originally from pennsylvania was known as a cop's cop and highly respected by members of the force. the people within this department are mourning, people within this community are mourning, and, again, what is so unusual about all of this, besides a man showing up and having a shootout with police outs also the fact that we are told by a number of sources that at least
